This is the theme to a gameshow. A GAMESHOW!

As heard in the actual gameshow for those who don't know it:

Never in a million years would we get something of this class played over the opening of a new tv programme thesedays, let alone a gameshow. I still enjoy this particular intro when I catch the show every now and then, it feels wonderfully medieval and doom-mongering! So where have all the GREAT tv themes gone? If you know of any, please share...

In the same place where great film music has gone along with great film composers..

By the way, yeah, i agree, it's a very good theme!! (Y)

(and very sophisticated sounding! it shows that the composer knows his craft very well!)

Did you already know it before may I ask?

No I didn't. I live in Greece and haven't watched this show ever..

i just searched for the composer, and I didn't know of him either.

He died quite recently I think in his 80s.

Here's another bona fide classic:

Here's a television medley by Jerry Goldsmith:

Man, but the theme from Barnaby Jones was a beast!

for those of us who can't watch videos during the day at least have the courtesy to post the title of the music.

Who wrote that game show music? That was good. It sounded like Goldsmith on a good day.
