Fox News (not a political discussion)

I just wanted to know if anyone has heard the music on the Fox News Channel? I'm a fan of the channel and all but I just think the music is HORRIBLE and LAME. I don't know what it is. All the different themes used for topics and programs. Does anyone else see it? Oh, and please don't turn this into a "i hate Fox News" or an "I love Fox News" debate because that's not what it's supposed to be. This is about the music (or at least what you can stand of it). I only wanted to know who else sees this besides me. Also remember not to make this a political discussion because that is a no-no.

- Adam, who thinks FOX news is quite compelling as entertainment and a disgrace from the standpoint of journalism (and don't worry, I'll ban myself for a long time for taking the bait (: )

Perhaps FOX should just use American anthems in keeping with their hyper-patriotism/jingoism. On a minor note, is it not bad form to mention one is a fan of FOX news and then spend the rest of the post arguing to not make this into a political discussion? I can see why political discussion is banned but that goal isn't helped any by the first two posts, which state their approval of FOX news. Its almost like saying, "I hate your mother but, please, please, no discussion about mothers."

Well, i guess we can expect a lock on this topic very soon, thank Adam.

And why the heck did you have to say, "I hate your mother..." instead of "your mom is hot, but let´s not talk about mothers". It doesn´t make sense... or does it? I think choosing "...hate..." was stupid.
FOX is good. Every cable network has a good show. My favs O´Reilly, Sajak and Chris Matthews over at MSNBC. And if Adam likes "hate", then I just have to say Donahue and Geraldo.

WTF, Adam? How is it bad form saying that one is a fan of the channel??? That is not in any way specifically describing what they think is good about it, nor is it saying that anyone who thinks the channel is bad is stupid.
"I am a fan" or "I am not a fan" is good form. It shares the general opinion of the person while keeping specifics that could be offending under wraps.
Now let's look at your "good form": "quite compelling as entertainment anda disgrace from the standpoint of journalism". Well done. Thank you for showing the exact bad form that you wrongfully accused the first 2 posters in this thread of showing.

"Well, I never watch Fox News because I don't like it, don't think it's fair and balanced, but yeah, you're right, the music's bad."
And then a fan could say,
"Well, I watch Fox all the time because I think that they're the most balanced, but yeah, you're right, the music really stinks."
See? Then you can make your view known without starting a flame war!
The Ghoest- Who is just checking in, and will watch Meet the Press just for the music.
(BTW, the starter of the topic begged for no politics, so please, just argue on the music!)

You accurately quote my post but than proceed to reply based on numerous misunderstandings of what I said. My primary objection that I raised, and expected not to be particularly controversial, was essentially that if we want to avoid political discussions, its better to not weigh in with our opinion on the subject that we say we don't want to be discussed. My objection was with the first post, primarily, and I wasn't objecting to his saying he was a fan. I was referring to the hypocricy of saying he was a fan but than insisting that he didn't want this to turn "into a 'i hate Fox News' or an 'I love Fox News'" debate. I brought it up as "a minor note", nothing to be taken too seriously. I'm embarassed that I've now written as much as I have on the subject to explain what should be a pretty clear and non-controversial position.
So contrary to what you say, I was not guilty of the bad form I was criticizing. And I never said anyone was stupid or that anyone was trying to say others were stupid so I'm not sure what your comment was supposed to mean ( your quote - "That is not in any way specifically describing what they think is good about it, nor is it saying that anyone who thinks the channel is bad is stupid.") The only time "stupid" has been used, it was Hector against my comments.
Once a couple people weighed in positively towards FOX News, I figured I might as well weigh in on the subject, knowing that in doing so I was "taking the bait" and contributing to a political discussion. You make a big distinction between saying one is a fan and my comments but, in my mind, all of the comments are ill-advised, including mine, given the forum rules. I doubt, if I had liked FOX news and had given a roughly similar "specific" reason (which wasn't even that specific in my mind), you would have reacted so angrily. In fact, others did give fairly specific reasons for liking FOX like Bill O'Reilly. I was able to handle this fine, though I disagree, and see no reason to be angry or even irked.
Hope this clears things up.
