In another posting thread ("Helm's Deep...Hacked"), I mentioned how brilliant Howard Shore's reorchestration of 'The Breaking of the Fellowship' is on FOTR: EE End Credits (Official Fan Club Founder Members' Credits).
Similarly, I loved Thomas Newman's reworking of a theme used sparingly in The Green Mile for the film's end credits (the last 2 mins).
Such reworkings were not part of the films' scores as released on CD so the only way you can obtain the music is by 'ripping' it off the DVD/Video release.
This has got me thinking. Can anyone think of an occasion(s) when Williams has reorchestarted a main theme for the End Credits and the End Credits alone i.e. not released the music on the OST?
It's great to 'unearth' these hidden gems.

This has got me thinking. Can anyone think of an occasion(s) when Williams has reorchestarted a main theme for the End Credits
He usually does that.
and the End Credits alone i.e. not released the music on the OST?

...For "Superman: The Movie" he had to compose additional music for the lengthy end credits, since the Superman Theme was not long enough. The additional music was the concert version of the "Love Theme".
The end credits for "Close Encounters" present the themes with different orchestrations from those heard within the film.
The epilogue from "The Fury" arranged the main theme for string orchestra, but I guess that it was not featured in the film.
I think that for the end credits of "The Towering Inferno" he also reworked the love themes associated to the differnet love affairs.

The Raiders March, used in the end credits for "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is not heard in the film. The only march-like appearance of the Indy theme in "Raiders" is heard in The German Sub, with a different orchestration.
The begining of the end credits for "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" presents the Indy theme with the Short Round theme as a counterpoint, which makes it slightly different from the other Indy films.
One of my favourites is the end title for "1941", which includes some bits of the merry-go-round music, the German anthem and so on.
Appart from "Hook" other end credits that I'd love to see officially released are those from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".

My understanding was that the credits ran long and his already written concert version of the "Love Theme" was just put in to cover the end titles.For "Superman: The Movie" he had to compose additional music for the lengthy end credits, since the Superman Theme was not long enough.
