No, it's actually good news. It means Joel Schumacher and McG are closer to getting this too.

Come on now, Schumacher has done half a good movie here and there.

And Lucas made American Graffiti and Star Wars.

I liked Falling Down and Phone Booth, and The Phantom of the Opera could be good. Bad Company sucks. And Schumacher also had a major part in killing off the Batman franchise (along with Akiva Goldsman's horrible screenplays).

But putting him together with McG who has not done an ounce of anything slightly worthwhile is unfair.

Schumacher is an interesting director who has had the guts to take risks with the films he has made, some times he failed, other times he didn't.

Falling down, 8MM and Phone Booth more then make up for Batman & Robin.

Yeah, I agree. As a batman fan, I will never forgive him for what he did to the character, but he has made some interesting films.

Okay, this thread seems perfectly suited to some Lucas-bashing, and suddenly we're all talking about Joel Schumacher??? What's going on??? LOL My two cents on Schumacher: Tigerland wasn't bad and I liked Flatliners - it terrified me as a kid and that's always a plus in my books. Everything else is pretty crap.

And I think Georgie-boy, despite his ever-increasing faults, surely deserves an award of this magnitude for past services rendered (whatever the award is. It certainly isn't from the Australian Film Institute, which is the only AFI I'm friends with).

Sure, Lucas deserves this award for his past endeavors. Nobody can deny the monumental impact of Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And ruining Star Wars is certainly some achievment.

Bale, Bale, Bale ...

As a symbolic gesture, the AFI Lifetime Award will be presented only in CGI. There will be no original award given.

And indeed, Schumacher is still much better than McG. Even Michael Bay is better than McG.
