Thanks for the help, guys !

You can boost something like that just fine. Look for the "Normalize" filter/effect/button in your audio program.

Here is what I get when I normalize the whole file :

As you can see, there's still a major difference in volume between the two parts I previously encircled in red and the rest of the waveform. The thing is, I'm trying to avoid having to adjust the volume of the rest of the track manually (as Data suggested). Is that possible ?

I think its time to de-sticky this thread, and just have people create their own new threads for techy help problems, since that's what happens have the time anyway. Anyone disagree?

Yes - me, you bastard!!!!!

Oh hang on - actually, when I started this thread I was expecting to be shot down in flames (hey, some people were like that then) - so for it to be retired gracefully after 6 years - well, I'm cool with that

And yeah - a lot of people tended to forget about the techy help thread when asking for techy help, didn't they? No accounting for folk...but it is one of the few threads where user "The Real Deal" posted - and he was a genuine classy guy and deserves his place in history.....

Greg

EDIT - just realised - 1 page per year of it's existence - surely that holds a record for slow growth of continuously-used thread? Ffuuuuu...

Ex-wife. My own fault entirely - it had slipped my mind to change the e-mail address attached to the account, and since use Roboform to log in to everything I had never needed to type it in.....so when she went to create a new account for herself it wouldn't let her while this "old" account was in place so she didn't think twice about deleting it. Pain in the backside, but I'll get round to some nice new avatars and sig picks sooner or later. Or I might just leave it as it is - kind of arty, don't you think!! And they match....collars and cuffs very important....

Okay, so for the past few months or so my computer has been giving me an extremely annoying problem and I have no idea why. Nor have I ever experienced it before. Lately it's been getting worse so I'm digging this ol' thread up to see if someone like Blume or anyone else can help me.

When I type, my cursor likes to go bat shit crazy. So it'll jump back and forth within what I've already typed, highlighting random portions and deleting them instantly all while I type. I'll start off a sentence and it'll jump up a line. I'll move it back to the proper place and when I get one letter in it'll jump back up to the same spot. It feels like I have to type at a certain speed that's in between very slow and my usual speed, in other words extremely awkward. Like I have to wait a second after each letter or something.

Sometimes I won't have this problem at all. When it first started happening, it went away after a few minutes, and I think it stayed away for awhile. Now it's happening on a daily basis, although not all day. Like I said, it's random, making it all the more annoying (Just then while I was typing "more" it jumped up into my paragraph break). Could it be something with the trackpad, or dust under the keys that's causing it? I don't even know what to call it, but it's a bitch.

In 50 years Herrmann will be forgotten.

Um, that's really weird. Could it be a virus? Anyway, try googling "cursor jumping while typing" or similar, lots of stuff comes up and maybe you can find something useful.

Does anyone know a good (and easy-to-use, preferably) software to demux a 7.1 DTS-HD file into 8 WAV files?

Does anyone know a software to mux multiple mono WAV files into a stereo WAV file (apart from Audacity)?

To give you more details, I demuxed an 5.1 AC3 file into 6 mono WAV files, and I'd like to create a stereo WAV file with 4 of those channels.

P.S.: I'm still looking for an answer to my question above, as well.

You don't have to mux at all, this is what I do (in Sound Forge, but I'm sure Audacity is the same)

1. Open up both mono WAVs
2. Create a NEW empty Stereo WAV (making sure its the same khz as your mono ones)
3. Copy, Select All on the left channel mono WAV, then go into your empty stereo WAV and highlight the left channel and Paste
4. Copy, Select All on the right channel mono WAV, then go into your empty stereo WAV and highlight the right channel and Paste

Voila!

The thing is, I don't want to use a editing software, since it has to generate a waveform every time you open an audio file.

OK, here is what I do generally: I use AC3Tools Pro. First, I demux the 5.1 AC3 file into 6 mono WAV files, then I choose the "Create AC3" option, and I create an 4-channels AC3 file (with the left, right, left surround and right surround WAV files). Finally, I convert the AC3 file into a stereo WAV file.

What I'm looking for is a software that would allow me to bypass the second step (creating the 4-channels AC3 file) and directly create a stereo WAV file with 4 mono WAV files (Left, right, left surround and right surround).

I'm not sure if I'm being very clear...

Eh, my method doesn't really take a lot of time at all. But yea, I'm sure there's a program that would combine them quicker

Did you extract the ac3 file from a dvd, or blu-ray?
