  1. Always refreshing to listen to a Mancini score that doesn't sound like "lounge" source music! Not that I don't like that kind, but I have linked soundtracks with something more than that.. By the way, does this ring a bell? (the film was released in 1974)
  2. You know, I had never thought of these aspects you're bringing up now about the movie and Roy leaving his family etc. And you know why? By the end of the movie, even before he stepped into the spaceship, I had even forgotten he had a family! This is how much I cared about them!
  3. I found the whole family and Roy's obsession scenes annoying. I love mostly only the last 20 minutes or so from that film!
  4. I wanted to draw your attention to this masterpiece of a soundtrack, that was briefly discussed in the Neumation updates thread. I was longing for years for the sheet music for this, and then, out of the blue, @Skelly said it's available for free, at the composer's own site (I almost had a heart attack! ): https://www.ykanno.com/works-en (by the way, I had even contacted the composer years ago, and I had received a negative reply to my query if his score would be available some day in written form) You can listen in this playlist, the original soundtrack release, plus 2 unreleased cues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCwz5lxoRIU&list=PL-zSJVcg1Q7C9SNhX5xxrlMiFIjWA3wig Track 9 that is missing from the above list is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8uoizNL81g This one of the most beautiful, (mostly) atonal scores I've ever heard, sublime, ethereal and angelic. Orchestration lacks woodwinds and brass, and includes all the others (plus choir which is the best element). I post here the score again, with bookmarks I made for each cue, and corresponding tracks (unreleased tracks included). https://mega.nz/file/KhIhkKxK#kSDj5M0nR50AqSFDZw476MtLMRpQtmsT_XflGi2Yndg I was a bit mixed up in track 5 and in track 12 (I don't know what is superimposed after 3.52''. I see at page 3 of the pdf, it connects M19 with M18-20-21. So maybe something of these 3 cues is overlapping with M19? If you figure it out, please let me know). By the way, the film also is a masterpiece, although you don't understand a thing about it! If you like this kind of films, it will be worth seeking it out!

    Hook

I LOVE Hook! I wish I had seen it at the cinema back then... I'm sure I'd love it even more! By the way, is that Kate Capsaw behind? I wonder why she retired acting. I liked her as a presence.
  6. So, I completed Goldenthal's officially released filmography. It seems I had already listened to the best of him! I didn't find anything here particularly outstanding. I just liked some individual cues here and there.. Does anyone consider any of the above, top-5 Goldenthal? I wish I could listen to Grand Isle (1991) though. A Victorian romance, would be interesting to hear from him.
  7. You're kidding, right? This is my favorite film of all time!
  8. Hehe. Really, we needed just 2 threads: one for the film and one for the score. I cannot understand the existence of so many threads on a film. It will surely become difficult/confusing to keep up with all threads. But anyway...
  9. Well, it was too "weird" for my taste. I can't explain it, you have to listen to it..
  10. So, I'm in the process of listening to the rest of Goldenthal's filmography, that I haven't yet. There's not much left for me, just 8 more scores. Well, this one was one of the worst scores I've ever heard! I'm sure it was what was required, because we all know how capable Goldenthal is. By the way, does Across the universe have an original score? I see an imdb credit for Goldenthal, but I don't see any score release. Not even a single track in the soundtrack releases it has.
  11. Oh, I'm sorry to hear! My condolences! I wonder though, is this regular there for a funeral to be held after so much time? It's usually in 2-3 days here I'd say. Unless there is a crime and they want to investigate or something..
  12. Masterpiece, and I'd say perhaps my favorite Goldenthal score (from the 15 I've listened to). Alas, Frida, his only Oscar winning score, is my least favorite!
  13. And I see he's around 40-42 years old. I thought he was 15 or something!
  14. Whose funeral? Or it was a metaphor? By the way, I'm jealous of the rain and grayness. Here's sunny all the way, and in the next days it will reach 33-34 degrees Celsius at noon. I hate the summer! When you're outside, you can't be protected from the heat, even if you walk naked! The only thing I like about it, is that we don't have school for 2 months! That's it! I prefer autumn and winter. I'm really born in the wrong country!
  15. I guess by "more contemporary score", he means a la Hans Zimmer with synths and stuff, right? Not an atonal one, which I assume a large percent of this score will be.
