  1. 1. The Empire Strikes Back (A K.C. masterpiece of science fiction fantasy) 2. Return of the Jedi (As someone mentioned before, just for the fantastic ending of the palpatine/luke/vader story and endor space battle, the other stuff could go) 3. Star Wars and this is where it gets difficult...it's like asking me to rank the Death Wish movies...or rank my bowl movements over the past week...i just don't know where to begin...i guess for now its 4. BattleField Earth (Yeah, better than the prequels, which just says everything..."Crap lousy ceiling!") 5. Revenge of the Sith ("NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" me and my gf at the theater were cracking up at that, though the last 3 minutes actually produced some emotion in me, which is what elevates it beyond the other two I suppose (ofcourse you could just give the ending credit to John's scoring finally coming back to life alittle) 6. Attack of the Clones (Its just as bad as Phantom, but it didn't have as much jar jar) 7. The Phantom Menace (Truely horrible, will never forget how crushed i was my this smut) Frankly, i don't watch the prequels accept to make fun of them with my friends, I saw ROTS today and wasn't surprised at how horrific it was....i think of them as expanded universe stuff, it can't be "Star Wars" to me...but hey, its not my franchise...i just enjoy the first three and leave the others for people who enjoy them... and what was up with Padme naming those kids...it was like drive through birthing Obi Wan: "Okay first one" Padme: "Um, Luke" Obi Wan: "Next!" Padme: "Leia!" Obi Wan: "HEADS UP!" Padme: "Milton!" Obi Wan: "ANOTHER ONE!" Padme: "Bertha!" god what a movie "NOOOOOO!!! LOST ANOTHER LONE TO DI-TECH!!"- Darth Vader
  2. go to spoiler episode three and find the sountrack discussion its near the top, its pretty far in the discussion try pages >9 -Murdoch
  3. Stefan has a right to his opinion, and everyone has a right to their opinion regarding Stefan's opinion and so on and so forth, regardless of POSTING seniority or what have you...someone said it before, "This is a forum", thats what you do...sometimes you agree, and hopefully most of the time, if we have a true plurality of opinion, taste and individuality, we disagree to varying degrees. This said, I have to say that I AGREE with Stefan about Williams buying a segway, yacht and lifetime suppy of Ensure energy shakes with his ROTS check....and good for him. I hate the prequels (an opinion of which I'm entitled)...i think they're poorly acted, horribly written films that never should have been made....YET JUST LOOK at the score of the Phantom Menace...its brilliant, and I'd argue that there was close to nothing in that film to inspire Williams save that it was very colorful and rather different....and he still had his mind fresh with that Robert Graves Tree Poetry stuff which really inspired alot of his best work. AOTC sucked, it just sucked, the movie sucked and the score was not that great...but really, if I was looking at the movie and had to write music too it, i'd track a small child screaming over the film as my sound track, or that rock song that starts "no no no, no no no no no no"....I think its phenominal that he produced the "okay" score that he did.... I've read the script to ROTS, I can't imagine this thing being better than the other ones, especially with the attempt at more ah..."emotional" scenes, thats a disaster for Lucas, because he can't direct...so if the score sucks, don't get upset...and if you LOVE IT, thats great, but so far it doesn't sound like its offering up any new material, and yes its got some bitingly obvious Howard Shore references....maybe he couldn't get over losing the award to him.... which he shouldn't have, Harry Potter is an amazing soundtrack...Williams still got it, but he doesn't have to score a hit everytime...sure its Star Wars and we have higher expectations, but we also did for the movies, and I don't think anyone here can tell me those movies met anywhere near their expectations for what those movies should and could have been....
  4. oh yeah that goober guy in empire..."Your tauntaun will freeze before you hit the first marker!!" that was another great line.... another classic trilogy acting moment is all of Leia's ewok village dialogue during Luke's revelation... "if he can feel your presence than leave this place"......"hold me!"
  5. the acting looks to be in line with the last two....sure its star wars, it doesn't have to be masterpeice theater...but come on guys....the acting in these films...embarassingly bad...infact, very humorous, i hope Episode III gives us some "good" acting moments like, "I hate sand" and "now this is podracing" among other greats.....
  6. so the last file, the one that was suppose to be from the endcredits/battle of the heroes.....what is that actually from?
  7. It isn't immediatly catchy....it reminds me of something from Wagner's Ring (Ofcourse Star Wars is compared to this, but I mean more directly in terms of sound and melody) ...very direct and simple...but not bad...what I like most about it is that it doesn't powerfully sound like something we've heard in star wars before...its no Duel of the Fates though, but thats okay...anything better than Across the Stars... -Murdoch (back after many many years of reading and reading but never posting)
