In Topic: Still think we didn't land on the moon?

Would you rather we have skipped the moon and gone straight to Mars, Europa, Titan, or Alpha Centauri instead?

If we're talking about manned trips then certainly I would be against all of them. We already have received super quality images from mars and detailed information about the composition of the environment and basically there is no imortant task performed by a human that can't be handled by a machine instead at location.

Germany's Autobahn's are admired for the relative freedom of speed that goes with them.

But when something does go wrong, it seems it REALLY goes wrong.  ;)

Kratwerk - Autobahn

I love Kraftwerk! Haven't heard Autobahn though. Shall give it a listen sometime.

In Topic: What Is The Last Film You Watched?

Mad Max 2. For some reason I have alot of interest in the film, probably largely due to the fact I grew up playing Fallout 1 & 2, which were heavily influenced by the film. But I really must face it: the film is pretty dull..

anyone can explain how does the "Quick format" differ from the "Full format"?

Also in O&O, is the most effective defrag method the Stealth mode?

You're splitting hairs. You're trying to argue that the execution of space exploration does not bring about technological progress, and that the progress is made in preparation of the exploration. Going to the moon was the goal that compelled scientists and engineers to develop all of the technologies required to get us there into such a compressed timeframe. Certainly if there had been no space race, the same discoveries would have been made eventually over time. As it turned out, you can point to Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo, and certainly their Soviet mission counterparts, for these advances, and not what some R&D corporation discovered ten or twenty years later.

So you're saying that scientists would be developing technology at a significantly lower rate if there wasn't any demand for space exploration? I don't buy it. And again I must repeat, I'm not criticizing space science as a whole, just the manned trip to the moon (Apollo program).

you are completely clueless.

Hey, I'm just basing this on the sources which have been provided above.

Anyway I'm sensing this has already developed into just another endless debate. I see that most people here disagree with my views, but it should be remembered that it is entirely subjective whether something should be considered useful/useless.
