Traveling with Tintin (French/German tv documentary)

23 October 2011 - 12:43 AM

I just discovered that earlier today French/German tv channel "arte" showed 5 episodes of a quasi-documentary travelogue retelling of Tintin stories (I only watched a small part). It consists of location footage from the places around the world that Tintin travels to, visually combined with panels from the comic books (sometimes recreating frames of the comics with real footage), narration of the plot, dialogue excerpts, and background information about the place and time in focus and Hergé's inspirations.

The first episode is watchable here (The cigars of the pharao), one of the stories contained in the upcoming movie (The crab with the golden claws) is here, and there are everal others available on the site (for a limited time).

Unfortunately it's only availbe in German and French, and I didn't see any subtitle options. But perhaps some people here might find it interesting :)

For the Linux users here...

As I frequently find myself reordering the tracks of soundtrack albums in my Amarok collection because of jumbled up CD sequence of the tracks (worst offender ofmy recent acquisitions: Order of the Phoenix), I started working on a little Amarok script to help speed up the process. After I got it working quite smoothly I'd like to share it, perhaps there are other Amarok users here who may find it helpful :)

To use the script (after installing it through Amarok's script manager from the file downloadable below), move the album you want to reorder into the playlist, drag the tracks into your preferred playing order, and select them (make sure the first selected track already has a track number tag set, it will be the starting point). Start the script through the "Tools" menu option.

If anyone tries it out, I'd welcome some constructive feedback :)

"The Terminal" Suite

24 April 2009 - 01:04 AM

Hi everybody,

I've finally finished this little exercise in orchestral arrangement, a small suite from "The Terminal", containing parts of "Jazz Autographs" and "Looking for Coins". We already tried it out once with the youth orchestra :P, and will be having some more fun with it in the following weeks...

I've created an mp3 demo of it (with instrumental samples), those who like can listen to it here: Terminal Suite - Demo

If someone is interested in the score, it can be found here: Terminal Suite - Score (for educational purposes only ;))

I hope you enjoy it, it was a fun (and challenging) experience to try to figure this out from the CD :P

Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country

04 April 2009 - 10:41 PM

I didn't really know where to put this, do we have a thread for these things?
Anyway, I just finished a piano transcription of the Star Trek 6 Suite (requested by Marian), here it is:

Sibelius Scorch
Sheet Music (PDF)
Demo Recording (mp3)

Parts of it are a bit on the heavy side, I don't think I can really play it myself... Thanks to my will to transcribe things as accurately as possible (while still playable by 2.5 hands ;))... Enjoy!

(Constructive Criticism welcome ;))
