i won't get my hopes up. Too many times have I been disappointed with remakes that could have used an orchestra yet didn't (or did, but were still mostly synths). We'll see....

That's interesting, because to me, the choices that have been made so far feel like a director wanting to do something that is exactly the same shit as everyone else. Every choice so far seems to have been made in order to make the story more in line with modern sensibilities (you know, the typical Hollywood route) rather than to preserve what makes this specific work of art unique. Of course, this is all based on what we know so far (but that goes for both sides of the argument, as Nick pointed out). We'll see how it goes, but I think we've had enough examples of how Hollywood treats these things in this day and age to more or less know what to expect.

There never was much point to compare the two, as they are vastly different works. In fact, I'm not even sure why people keep on doing that, other than because the writers themselves had some things in common: they were both Catholic, they were friends and they were of course both members of the Inklings. But their novels have very little in common. At best, I guess you could compare Narnia with The Hobbit (because at least in this case, both are for the same target audience), but even then, they are not similar enough to make a comparison worth it. It's like comparing apples and oranges. The apple does not try to be an orange, nor would an orange want to be an apple. That would be preposterous!

It's not curious choices. It's just modern Hollywood.

The creation of Narnia... to the sound of rock'n'roll I wonder how Gerwig would score Ainulindalë. Trance music, perhaps?

If this is the reaction it gets, then the music is appropriate for Narnia, I guess.
