It's a large mural, a so called lenticular mosaic, comprising of two images of Le Chuck and Guybrush. When  you see it from an angle, you'll see Le Chuck. It you slowly turn the mosaic sideways, you'll see Guybrush. It's not finished yet, so I can't show you the final effect, but this is the LeChuck image:

#892425 Jurassic Park 20th Anniversary OST (Digital only release)

Posted by Romão on 28 March 2013 - 02:01 PM

Well, all this hype made revisit the score (with which, like most of you, I am greatly familiar) ad what struck is how varied and ecltectic this score really is. You get everything from angelic choir (Hatching Baby Raptor), pulsatic syncopathic synth suspense (Dennis Steals the Embyo . and what a wonderful piece of mickey mousing this is within the movie), manic dangerous suspensed(High Wire Stunts), an modernistic and highly impressionist horror cue (Raptor Attack), a very nostalgic and touching lullaby (Remembering Petticoat Lane), a jungly, tribalesque cue (Jurassic Park Gate), an enobling cue for the dinosaus (My Friend, the Brachiosaurus), absolutely exhilarating action cue (T-rex Rescue and Finale), and I could go on and on, but there aren't many scores with so many different colors and moods.

Even highly undesirable events such as these often bring hidden blessings. I wish you the best, sincerily

#874190 Relationship status

Posted by Romão on 07 January 2013 - 12:05 AM

We'll see, I might be able to secure some projects to support me at least during the next 12 months or so.

This is some of my past work (sorry for the shameless plug-in, but I could use some validation, right now):

Yes :) I though I'd rather use my real name from now on

I don't mean to say that an original recording cannot be the best recording. But I don't think the contrary is untrue either. These are symphonic music works, that envolve the tinniest details in orchestration and interpretation. Any new recording can bring something new to the table, and are, thefore, most welcome, for they can often times offer new often better interpretations of the music. And in case of older scores, you get better sound to boot.

Being the original recording does not assure anything at all, quality wise

#847240 JWFAN Members Top 10 John Williams scores lists

Posted by Romão on 07 October 2012 - 11:32 PM

1 - Sleepers
2 - JFK
3 - Return of the Jedi
4 - Seven Years in Tibet
5 - ET The Extra Terrestrial
6 - Schindler's List
7 - Nixon
8 - Close Encounters in the 3rd Kind
9 - Memoirs of a Geisha
10 - Adventures of Tintin

Reflecting on my top 10, the overal consistency of JW's ouvre becomes staggering. There are easily 20 more scores I consider for inclusion in a top 10

#847238 Projecto Construir

Posted by Romão on 07 October 2012 - 11:18 PM

I've just finished my latest project: The Castle of Guimarães. It is the birthplace of Portugal (http://en.wikipedia....imarães_Castle) and was apropriately built this year, as Guimarães is the 2012 European Capital of Cultura. It was built by over 120 children from socially disadvanted backgrounds, in a very poor area of Guimarães.

So here it is, the finished model (minus the full vegetation and trees, that will be put only when the Castle is in its place of exhbition):

And what a score, it has definitively become one of my favorites

#839870 What Is The Last Score You Listened To?

Posted by Romão on 06 September 2012 - 01:35 AM

The Adventures of Tintin

It's been a while since I listened to it, and it's one of my absolute favorites. The freshness of it, the instrumental performances, the thematic writing, this whole thing oozes class and panache. It's just a terrific display of talent. And those two first tracks are absolute killers

#839477 Twin Peaks - am I the only one?

Posted by Romão on 04 September 2012 - 04:12 PM

I still consider it the greatest TV show I have ever seen. Before the grand finale, there are 6 or 7 filler episodes that I could do without, but all the rest is pure gold. And Fire Wal with Me elevates the whole thing even more

#838458 "John Williams is an ***hole", apparently

Those guys are the real assholes. What a stupid rant
