saw the film a week ago and it did nothing to me. Were there any puppets at all (besides Grogu)? Especially the Hutts looked awful. In general, the digital effects were disappointing. Tuned in Season 3 shortly afterwards and it just looks so different and more crisp. Also: not a great story. Suspense? Actual plot twists? No. And Sigourney's screen time is ridiculous. I didn't expect anything tbh but was still disappointed.

Almost disappointed by the score (just through with the album). This Is The Way has a great vibe, feels a bit like a concert suite or a prologue. But apart from that the album does nothing to me. Weird idea to include audience noises on the Pit Fight… Only other highlight for me was Hugo Durant’s Snack Shack.

it‘s been used tho in the sequel stage musical for the song "Beneath A Moonless Sky"! (orchestral intro and starting again at 2:19). (EDIT: I guess it’s more accurate to say that that motif from the film got further developed for the verse section of that song.)

I really love the extended Overture.

just went to a 35mm screening of Hollow Man. I know the film and score quite well but boy, the last act is such a ride and kept me at the edge of my seat, especially because of Goldsmith’s score. Fun! Kinda one the last movies of the 90s. CGI effects didn’t age too badly either, IMHO.

Bits from "The Reunion" from War Horse perhaps? Also: "One Hand One Heart" from West Side Story? I actually played both for my mum's funeral on piano. I didn't want "sad" cues, but more graceful and solemnly music.

really nice show. Piano concerto reminded me of some Coruscant material in TPM. I loved how the piano mixed so well at times with certain instrument groups – not just doubling their parts but blending in perfectly. Interestingly enough first part of the program was a ballet suite by Mieczysław Weinberg, apparently colleague/student of Shostakovich and it reminded me of Indy and Tintin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mieczysław_Weinberg#Music

went to see it five times now, incl. IMAX 70mm in London. Honestly the last time I felt THIS excited and in awe because of a film was 1997 and 1998 (The Lost World / Titanic).

went to a talk with David Arnold yesterday which was part of the London Soundtrack Festival. The talk was interesting and afterwards you could line up for photos and autographs. This was quite spontaneous and kind of intimate. I told him that I was 10 resp. 12 when ID4 and Godzilla came out and that his music was part of my childhood. He really seemed touched by this. Amazing experience, only to be topped by seeing Project Hail Mary at IMAX 70mm a few hours later. 😍
