Disclosure Day - SPOILERS ALLOWED Discussion thread
TheUlyssesian replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
The listen theme is played for the 3 "animal" encounters. When Emily Blunt sees the cardinal. When Connor and Hewson see the stags. When Emily Blunt & Connor see the fox. But i think for the scene of young emily blunt seeing the stag, it isn't played. -- Score highlight when Blunt breaks O connor out by tricking each FBI agent. -

Will John Williams Win His Sixth Oscar in 2027?
TheUlyssesian replied to Ricard's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
I am afraid this is the case. -
So here it goes... The main theme listen... the released track is heard just thrice in the film per my count. Brief hummed versions essentially. I won't tell you the context but 3 times for similar things. Like maybe 15-30 seconds duration. Sounded like that Hunger Games whistling motif thing. Rue's theme or whatever. The listen track is the end credits piece. The josh o connor piece in the field is in the film almost exactly the same. I think it actually opens the end credits before listen... starts. There are two major symphonic music highlights but they are not the listen theme. My favorite moment the most striking one is an extended like piano like motif that is similar to the attraction theme in Queer. Not similar just trying to give you a sense of how it sounds. This piece was mixed very well. The other one is to do with key scenes with Emily Blunt. I think that was the third piece in the end credits after listen played in full. I think there is a villain theme or bad guy theme or texture or motif. Mainly associated with Firth. He's the "bad guy" that's not a spoiler. There are suspenseful cues and action cues. All a little bit subdued. But well done. The score is of course well done. It is the score of a mature man, a 94 year old man. I definitely fell if the Williams of the 70s or 80s or 90s or even the 00s were scoring he would have scored much more rambunctiously. I definitely want to see the film again to appreciate the score more. The film is kiiiiinda demanding in the sense a lot happens and there's a lot going on, so you are trying to just follow along. So second viewings might reveal the score more fullsomely. The listen theme first appears 19 minutes in. Overall obviously a wonderful score.

Will John Williams Win His Sixth Oscar in 2027?
TheUlyssesian replied to Ricard's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
The nomination was guaranteed when it was announced he was scoring the film. The win is not. I think Ludwig Gorassnson will win. For Williams to even have the smallest chance - multiple things will need t happen - - Disclosure Day to be a big hit - Disclosure Day to become a strong awards film - we are taking Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Editing nominations etc. - Odyssey would need to underperform a bit - Odyssey to not be that well reviewed - Ludwig's score not that acclaimed - No other challenger to gain momentum So you see its very difficult, bordering on unlikely. -

I think War Horse was well mixed too.

I mean are any of these people really credible. I will never forget the one guy who SAW the Fabelmans and said the trailer music was exactly the score in the film. -

I mean, I'll say this. Spielberg has definitely evolved as a filmmaker. He has become much more refined. I don't think many people today would even compute that Spielberg is a high-row director. And has become more so as time has gone on. And one of the things that happens in high brow films is that the score is always a little bit underplayed and muted. Now I am not saying that this will be the case with Disclosure Day. But that the Spielberg of today is unlikely surrender large chunks of the film over to Williams so that he can score it as he will. -

Just lurid vulgarity. His overwhelming tone is to violently assault and rape the viewers with "SEE I'M SO EXCITED, I'M LOVING IT, THIS IS MY LIFE, THIS THING COURSES THROUGH MY VEINS, CINEMA IS MY ENTIRE BEING, ISN'T THAT AWESOME, ISN'T THAT FUN." It's saddening to see greats like Spielberg fall for his sordid masturbation. If he ever tried to interview me, I'd call the police on him. People like him make me and everyone hate press junkets. The artificiality of it makes my hair stand on end. -

I find it curious that no poster has been released with any credits whatsover. Just with Speilberg and Koepp's name. Like not even a poster with the cast billed!
