  1. Powell is the ultimate proof, as if we need any, that it's not about who wrote the best music in a given year. The films Powell scores are the complete opposite of Oscar bait. Mainstream fare, often family or kid-oriented, often animated, and typically the movies aren't even that great. So if you looked at the Oscars alone, his entire career has amounted to very little - just two nominations total.
  2. No, that was @BloodBoal
  3. Another nice Pembertonian score in a classically Pembertonian style, at least on album. I remembered all the hard rock stuff from the movie, but on album I realized that a lot of the music is reminiscent of his Dark Crystal scores. That's the Pemberton fantasy sound, apparently. And his buzzsaw synths from Spiderman show up too. If you didn't have any Pemberton scores, this one would be a good intro. As it is, I'm on the fence about whether I want the whole thing. Will probably at least give it a couple more listens on Spotify. Pretty great though to come out of the movie HUMMING THE HUMMABLE THEME!! Fuck yeah!!
  4. JWFan doesn't have the proper reaction emoji for this...
  5. That same sticker was on one of the Deutsche Grammophon releases I bought, probably the Violin Concerto No. 2 blu-ray.
  6. Yeah, ewww. They probably don't know a specific date and just wanted to be safe, since Waxworks just says "July".
  7. Definitely helpful in making sense of it all. And funny how all of them are the same width, except Dolby, which for some reason is slightly narrower. It is with pleasure to announce that I have my IMAX 70mm tickets. I have to say, regardless of the actual content of Nolan's movies, I think he deserves a huge amount of credit for how successful premium formats and 70mm are today. I'm really happy that people want to see a movie on film bad enough, they're fighting over it!
  8. You can't give 'em away... this may account for Williams' harpsichord phase also.
  9. Good to know the pen didn't crack during shipping. I hate that!
  10. Damn Johnny, that was quite a story. Thanks for sharing. Your life really has gone through some twists and turns, so I'm glad you haven't given up in spite of all the enormous challenges. It sounds like your best bet might be selling the house and downsizing, and relocating to an area where you can get a good nursing job. But that's just an outsider's perspective, I'm sure if it was easy you'd be doing it. If this happens, I'd also be happy to go along and help! Darker and more disturbing?
