How can I find the actual promo disc or the full tracks it contains? Is it actually in stores or what? I can't find it anywhere online or off.

"Opinions are like *ssholes. Everyone has one and they all stink" I'm glad this Zimmer war is finally being addressed. Personally I can't stand John Williams' music, but does anyone see me whining and complaining about it? The only reason I'm even on this board is for threads about other composers like Zimmer, Shore, Morricone, Jablonsky, etc. I'm no professor of music, but who's to say any of us is? What this all comes down to is a bunch of average Joes arguing over a few music notes. Music is music, and who gives a d*mn about the specifics?

I have always loved PotC music and always will. Between the three soundtracks, I have heard them more than any other CD I own (and I have a considerable amount). A day does not go by when I don't listen to them, repeatedly, for that matter. Now, I don't understand why everyone bickers and complains about Zimmer constantly, and frankly I don't want to know. I don't see why all this "synth" nonsense should matter. To me, Zimmer's music, especially PotC, is the most addicting, enjoyable, action-packed music there is. Schools across the nation play the memorable themes in band concerts. I think the word to best describe this music is: engaging. I know this is a John Williams fansite (yes I can read). Some people are more likely to listen to and prefer his music more than Zimmer's, Shore's, or any one else's. But do we seriously need the constant childish bashing of music and composers that a majority of the public appreciates anyway (though they may not be on this site)? If people like Zimmer, they'll like Zimmer. If they don't like him, that's okay too. But must we really need to be reminded of that every time we open a thread in this message board?

I won't be buying the score because: 1. It's only about 50 minutes long (out of a movie that's over 2 hours) 2. It's missing many main themes from the other movies 3. It's completely out of order. (I hate when composers do that to their music. I know that it's meant for a better "listening experience" but that doesn't matter to me)

I saw Transformers opening night and I was expecting it to be pretty good (at least the trailers made it look that way). However I was very disappointed with it. I hated how Bay turned the movie into a comedy by cracking one joke after another until it got irritating. The robots had no depth/emotions to them (as opposed to Gollum or Davy Jones) The little Decepticon was very annoying and hogged the screen (Frenzy, I think was it's name). As the movie went on and on, I kept checking my watch and hoping it'd be over soon. By the time the final battle began, I was so detached from the story/characters that the special effects meant nothing to me. I was expecting a semi-dramatic movie that took itself seriously, but this certainly wasn't what I saw. Little girl: Excuse me, but are you the tooth fairy? ... Bush: Why don't you dial me up some ding-dongs darling?

My POTC - TCOTBP Complete Score Project --- UPDATE 2
riselordvader replied to Damo's topic in General Discussion
Well everyone, strangely enough after all this I was able to find and download WinZip. Using that I was able to unzip the files just as Pieter had done. I was finally able to listen! Of the score itself, I think you did a very good job, Damo. I noticed a few small clips were missing from various sections (when Gov. Swann is fighting skeleton arm and extended He's A Pirate credits) but I was able to edit those in. All in all, I'm very impressed, and you can bet that I'll be one of those who PM you for the eventual Dead Man's Chest edit whenever that may be. -
My POTC - TCOTBP Complete Score Project --- UPDATE 2
riselordvader replied to Damo's topic in General Discussion
Well Damo, will you give Pieter permission? It's your work and all, but many people (myself one of them) are really anxious to listen to it without any problems. Hope you'll consider. Pieter, that's awesome news. Just take your time. I'm in no hurry. -
My POTC - TCOTBP Complete Score Project --- UPDATE 2
riselordvader replied to Damo's topic in General Discussion
Pieter, Is there any way that you or anyone else who has managed to open it using a Windows system can upload those particular files? That way they would go from a Windows system to a Windows system without these MAC_OS folder/password problems. Thanks for any help. At least we've discovered the source of the problem. -
My POTC - TCOTBP Complete Score Project --- UPDATE 2
riselordvader replied to Damo's topic in General Discussion
Is anyone else having trouble opening the files once it is downloaded? I've downloaded it on two separate computers and on both when I go to unzip the files it says I need a password because they are "protected" files. I also cannot simply open the songs and listen to them (or individually move/ delete them either) while they are in this zipped state. Can anyone help out? I like this music and it's bugging me that I cannot listen to it. riselordvader -
Composer Threads James Newton Howard thread
riselordvader replied to nightscape94's topic in General Discussion
I really enjoy JNH's music especially in King Kong. One of my favorite parts that did not make it into the soundtrack is the whole scene where Ann meets Englehorn and boards the Venture. It's so mysterious and hints at what's to come. There are so many other great music moments missing from the soundtrack... Is there any such "Ultimate Edition" for King Kong that someone has made? I'm making a movie and am in need of these missing cues. Any help would be great! Thanks! -
Thank you very much so far! Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't part of "Englehorn to the Rescue" (where Baxter is swinging on the vine) the same as what is used in "Fire!" (particularly when Kong is swinging around the unfinished building while escaping the military)? That's one of my favorite parts of the score and I would be relieved if it is on the soundtrack even if it was on a different track. Edit: I just read the article and answered my own question. Do you think there will be a "Complete Recording" of some sort for Kong?
