Yes. "Surprise Attack" 0:00, 0:05, 0:14 The four notes appear three times before giving way to the motif associated with the character of Khan, played by the horns. The rhythmic motif of this cue is based on four notes... which rapidly increases the number of appearances. Just Horner's scores that I know. No, seriously, it's just the top 9. I must have the complete rankings somewhere.

What a coincidence! Just as you were posting your question, I was writing the answer on a French forum about film music... So I'll just copy and paste it here: In volume 4, I listed the 1,248 appearances of the motif in its dark (minor scale) and light (major scale) versions. I also explained that this motif has been around for a very long time in music and continues to live on after James Horner. And for your information, Troy slightly surpasses Enemy at the Gates.

I think you're referring to this interview: Jeff Bond, “Horner Revealed,” Film Score Monthly, vol. 9, no. 2, February 2004 He does mention Scorsese, but not a specific film. However, in another interview (Jim Svejda, “A Conversation with Oscar-winning film composer James Horner,” The Record Shelf, KUSC, Los Angeles, August 15, 2004), he talks about the film Aviator. He was very keen to be involved in this project, but the director's response was: “I don't want another Titanic.” He also mentions that he tried unsuccessfully to work with Peter Weir and Jonathan Demme.

Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to announce that my publisher has just updated the website dedicated to the book! I had mentioned this might happen by the end of June, but it’s finally happening now, and I’m so excited to share this with you. https://jameshornerbiographybook.com For the past year, working with my publisher has been an exceptional experience. I'll be there. But as it's a press ticket, I don't know where I'll be. Usually, we're placed in the Stalls K, in front of the screen.

I don't want to launch pre-orders if the book isn't 100% finished, to avoid a long wait between the end of pre-orders and the shipping. The book is 99.9% finished. As I explained a few weeks ago on FSM, I'm waiting for authorization to publish images of recording sessions. I need the studio's permission. They've asked me to send them the chapter. I did so in September. Last week I received my chapter with the requested changes. So things are moving ahead! I hope to launch pre-orders in May.

Thanks for pointing out the menu problem, it's fixed now. Registration is not required to visit the site. It's just for posting comments and reviews. The design was the same since 2013. It was time for a change. The pages will be updated gradually. And I'd like to switch to a secure connection too (SSL), but I haven't managed it yet.

Thank you for your messages. I love talking about this project. Yes, I have all the dates of the recording sessions. But why do you want them? Well, I'll give you the month: June 2005. I understand your comment about Patton. Earlier in the book, in a section devoted to Jerry Goldsmith and his influence, there's a quote from James Horner who says he thinks Patton is great. The index at the end of the book will make it easy to find all the occurrences. Yes, I'm in contact with him. Thank you.
