  1. Short answer: yes. I'm not allowed to share the materials themselves with anyone, but I can share mockups, and I intend to complete high-quality mockups of all the unavailable AOTC music as soon as I can. It's a little impossible because of my living arrangements right now, but that'll be changing before too long. I would definitely keep an eye on the mockups thread, or I might just start a whole new thread with all of them when the time comes. Thanks for the update. I will be watching out for them, but there is no hurry of course.
  2. Are there still plans to do other mockups for AOTC, such as the alternate section in "Padme Falls" or the different variations of "End Credits"? I would love to hear them if time permits their creation. Thanks for the ones that have been done already!
  3. One thing we don't have is the concert version of Queen Amidala's theme. There used to be two consecutive entries in the BMI repertoire called "The Queen's Theme" and "Young Anakin's Theme". IIRC, they were both composed by Williams and published by Bantha Music. Because of this, I am pretty sure a concert arrangement was written. It looks like it is listed in the database on the Warner-Chappell website, but I have not registered an account to see all of the details. We know it's been said that the music for Queen Amidala was originally much more developed. However, Lucas did not want it so developed. I seem to recall it had something to do with the direction he planned to take Padme in the next films. My guess is that the theme was rehearsed but not recorded except for possible documentary footage of the rehearsal. I suppose another possibility is that it was recorded at least once but they decided to scrap it so it was not mixed (not even for Lucasarts). It would have just ended up like many of the alternate takes of cues that are completely unreleased.
  4. I read that too, Krang. However, it is possible that the sequence moved back and forth after the spotting sessions. We don't have enough information right now to know for certain, but I have a theory based on what we know and what was speculated a few pages back in this thread. The first cut Williams saw for the spotting session in October 2004 might have been a version containing the deaths of Luminara Unduli and Shaak Ti (and perhaps others). Then perhaps sometime between the time of the spotting session and the time Williams composed "Lament", a second cut was made where some deaths were removed. They may have moved the temple march to the middle of the montage as a result. This would be the cut Williams referred to when composing the music. The battle shots on Utapau might have not been locked down, so it was decided to use tracked music for them. Then in January 2005, Stass Allie's death was filmed, resulting in a third cut. This is where they might have moved the temple march back to the beginning of the sequence (with tracked music). I speculate it was decided to record the piece against the second cut and then edit it to fit the final film. If something like this did happen, then my guess is that the original temple march music can be heard on track 4 of the OST from approximately 1:30 - 2:04. I don't have a guess as to how the whole cue would have looked, but I believe that section is a good guess for the march due to the music's location and how it is played in that part. The variation of the motif in this section is also very similar to how it's played in "Anakin Changes".
  5. Just to clarify, are you referring to the very first statement of the theme in the opening seconds of track 3 on the soundtrack? That variation of the theme is actually heard throughout "The Boys Continue" rather than the "main" version. I thought it was said that cue was revised, but it seems to me like it was not. Maybe I am just misunderstanding things.
  6. Ah, ok. I was just nit-picking whether or not he might have at least tried to write something. If he did, it is now possibly a missing link in understanding the thematic development and things like that. But has it been said for sure whether or not Minority Report was definitely the reason? I was mistaken about the sweetener. Thanks for clearing that up, Jason. Thanks for all the great work you have put into this as well. Edit: Thanks to Datameister for all of this as well.
  7. I have seen the list. I was asking if there is confirmation that he did not write any music specifically due to Minority Report. The part I was speculating to be the sweetener is on track 12 of the CD around the 6:53 - 6:58 area.
  8. Is this information based on speculation, or do we now have some inside information? The only report I remember was that nothing was recorded for those scenes because they was still heavy work being done on them. I thought whether or not Williams actually wrote at least some music for these scenes is unknown. Though if he did write something, he probably scrapped it long before preparing for the recording sessions (perhaps when the changed scenes started flying at him). BTW, I think that the 6m2 "Sweetener" is the last few seconds of the cue. In the film, it is actually the part that comes in after a few seconds of tracked music. Similar to what I said above, I wonder if there was possibly more written for 6m2 that was dropped at some point before the recording sessions, or if it originally led into a dropped 6m3. The sweetener could have been something created during the recording sessions to give the cue a better ending and lead-in to the tracked material.
  9. It reminds me of the fanfare during Jabba's appearance in TPM.
  10. Actually, it occured to me recently that it sounds like a hinting variation of Jabba's theme rather than a motif for the droids. It would make sense given that they are going to Jabba's palace.
  11. Thanks a lot for this! I look forward to the day we actually get to hear the recording. I can hear connections with other parts of the film in the original finale, though the perfectionist in me keeps me from posting an analysis at this time. Regardless. I think it is a helpful piece in understanding the score. On another note, I was listening to the tracked music in the droid foundry scene where Padme falls into the bucket and I think that it may be a very short snippet of the original finale music as well.
  12. Based on the final film, I would guess that 2m4 is the source music for Dex's Diner.
  13. Sorry, I should have mentioned that I was referring to the end credit info you posted, such as what specific bars were different in the unrecorded versions.
  14. Jason, my apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but is this based on specific information you have about the sessions, or is it conjecture based on the music and cue sheets we have? Either way, this is good stuff!
  15. Cool info! In a video edit I made, I used the gripping1 piccolos. I also had it directly follow "The Great Duel", which meant having the shot of Maul pacing lead into Anakin's crash landing. Thanks to Harlin, it looks like I got it right. I had thought that maybe "The Invisible Wall" was a bridge piece recorded because the scene order changed by the time it was recorded. However, seeing what you guys said about it being part of "The Great Duel", I tried mixing it in with the edit I have and it works well. I am now even more confident that we have things pretty much figured out from "The Great Duel" onward.
