Maybe it's because I'm not as familiar with the stage musical as I am the movie but I quite liked the little breaks in the songs - I felt the score was enough connective tissue to keep the momentum going, as it were - so that when the final chorus or reprisal hit (Dancing Through Life, Popular), it hit a little harder for me. On the other hand I haven't really tried to give most of the songs a dedicated listen WITH those score bits mixed in so I'll concede they might not make the best listening experience. The few edits I have made (Opening Build into No One Mourns the Wicked, Open Your Eyes into Defying Gravity) that build into song tracks sound quite nice, though.

Good catch. Normally I might be annoyed that a cue was tracked in that much but at least, thematically, those moments are turning points in her life so I can "excuse" it.

That and the lovely fanfare at the end. Hits all the right notes, so to speak.

That's gotta be a tricky act - to write score in between songs and uitlize some of the themes without blatantly copy-pasting what we hear during the songs. I'd say in that regard, the score is a resounding success.

Ya know, this has got to be one of the best scores to a bad film that I've heard in some time. So much so that the movie almost hurts the score, hahahah. Almost! And I know I'm DEFINITELY in the minority on this one...but I didn't like the theme of the Speeder Chase track. I was initially glad that wasn't in the movie, but given the end result, it didn't really matter. Still, it felt like there was A LOT of material missing and I look forward to listening to it!

I actually went with Parents, as far as what I missed the most. Falcon Flight is great (and I actually like it more than Speeder Chase) but there was something about Parents, and the reworking of Kylo's theme, that struck me on my first listen of the FYC. It was definitely THE track I couldn't believe was omitted from the OST.

Half the reason I feel it worked last time was because it was in such a tiny, front-of-park shop - they probably didn't know or care that they were breaking street date and not making enough waves for anyone to notice. I'd assume a park that focuses on SW would be a little smarter about that. Alas, lightning did not strike twice. I checked the store I did last time, as well as a few other noteworthy areas and no dice, despite this CLEAR homage to the Death Star.

My God. This is amazing, hahahah! Mission: Accepted. Heading over to Epcot now with zero expectations. After all, Last Jedi was there the day before its physical release. Still...

I just tell the folks at the front gate I'm there for the new John Williams album. They understand. ...yeah, I'm a passholder. And I work at the "other" park.

I initially got a hit for 'Join Me' around the 30-second mark but haven't been able to replicate it. Oddly enough I get a hit for 'Farewell' if I start at the 42-second mark. As previously stated, Shazam may not have the most up-to-date info.

If I Shazam it at :35, it comes up as 'Fleeing from Kijimi'.
