Look at, and listen to, what might have been the theme for "Gilligan's Island" (Pilot episode). http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mr8P27wTVKQ Here's an interesting Trek mixture: http://youtube.com/watch?v=OsAc439VWjw&mod...related&search=

GoodMusician, I think the point that JoeinAr is making, and that you have sort-of acknowledged, is that the recording will be per force, different. For starters, it is not the same voice artist. Secondly, the recording technologies and techniques are completely different now to what they were in the mid 60s and thirdly, no live recording will be 100% identical because of the fallibility of human beings...tempos will change slightly, pitches will alter just at the edge of perceptibility, etc...etc... -
Is Williams still capable of writing iconic fanfares etc?
Dr.ZacharySmith replied to Quintus's topic in General Discussion
If JW reads stuff on this site I wonder what he would think...his life and creativity being examined as if by a giant magnifying glass by all and sundry. The man is a genius...he has created works of genius in the past. But like I wrote above, genius ebbs and flows. Just like anyone can have a momentary spark of genius and write/draw/paint/hum/play something of astounding beauty or novelty, so too can the genius have moments, or periods, of less-than-perfect creativity. JW is human; he is not a god. -

All genius is like a fire, it may rage, then abate, smoulder and then rage again. Wait. -
Never say never... My money's on JW returning to score for Indy4.

Crickey! I'm confused (...even more than I normally am!!!) ! Please, Pi, change your avatar to something else. Stef has first dibs on the one he has. Here's a goody for you: -or use the one that King Mark graciously found for you. Pretty Please?

I was sure most people would say that Courage would approve of the re-scoring of the Trek Theme. I agree with robthehand in that this is the most accurate recording of the original theme...and I have many others in my collection to compare it with. I liked how the conductor intimated that he felt that he was dealing with something of high cultural significance. -
Jeffrey Hunter was really meant to be Captain Kirk.
