Its been awhile since I last listened to Water Horse.  The first thing I thought of when I heard the opening of the suite (0:05 - 0:13) was its similarity to the piano theme heard in War Horse ("Remembering Emilie").  What are your thoughts?  Do you think this was a temp track?

The counter argument would be that Williams' theme is derived from at least 2 earlier themes in the score, so maybe it's just a coincidence.  But I'm not sure that suffices.

I have two orchestration questions.  First, does anybody know whether JW used synthesized or real choirs in the following scores:

Jurassic Park (this is the one I'm most curious about)

War of the Worlds

AI

Last Crusade

Second, does anybody know the type of flute used in "Dennis Steal the Embryo," at 1:40?  And is it the same as the flute used in JP's "Opening Titles," to give the first statement of the raptor theme?

I'm writing a JP analysis and answers to these questions would be very helpful--thanks!

I'm thinking of getting some earplugs so I don't damange my hearing during Wind Ensemble rehearsals.  What earplugs should I get?  Musicians, is there a difference between earplugs for this specific purpose and earplugs for other uses?
