James Horner to score Gibson's "The Passion" (2004
genkiguy replied to Pelzter's topic in General Discussion
Any music historians here???? Is the above at all possible??? Just curious, do we know anything about the music of the region and period???? Isn't it true that we know practically nothing about the music of ancient Rome????? and haha theer is the argument that if he wants to make the film as authentic as possible then there wouldn't be any music at all. But as a film score fan I hope there's plenty. I've spent teh last few days listening to Star Trek 2 &3 and Aliens, haven't listened to them in ages, and yeah some of Horner's recent scores don't go into my stereo often, but I'm still excited about this score!! -
Ooops Lord, i think I replied to your post without reading it properly... Elfman, I love the guy...the Simpsons Theme!! Mars attacks, Black Beauty, and A simple plan, is so utterly brilliant in the movie!

how many put some effort into it?? ALL of them Filmscore lull??? I don't see it like that at all, Basil Poledouris latest score The Touch is one of my favourites of his, Michael Kamen has Open Range coming out soon, James Horner's doing "Passion" Howard Shore's Return Of The King is coming soon, James Newton Howard is writing amazing stuff and has another collabaration with the 6th Sence/signs guy. I just saw Time Machine and K-19 and I think Klaus is a great talent, Well I for one see this year as an exciting time to be a soundrack shopoholic, My wallet hates it, but my ears love it!!

Hi Mr Morlock, If you're still after JFK, let me know...I have a spare new and sealed copy (and when I say copy. I don't mean copy) -
I ordered a second hand copy of Michael Kamen's saxophone Concerto, And my order confirmation email contained this sentence: it is not unusual for international shipments to take as long as 8 weeks. Ok, a long time, but if thats how long it takes, then thats how long it takes. I wait the 8 weeks plus a few days, and contact the seller who advises me to contact Amazon, whci I do a few days later. And I just get this reply, which really made me angry: Unfortunately, I see that you will not be eligible for coverage under the terms of our A-to-z Guarantee because your purchase was made more than 60 days ago. So I was told the order could take up to 8 weeks to arrive, and then refused a refund because I didn't ask for one within that time!!! me mad!!!!

arh sorry to break this to you, but the 3rd Harry Potter movie is actually 1 year away....as to movie assignments before then, Speilberg has a few movies slated (not sure if thats been confirmed, and I don't know of any release date) But take heart, he said in his interview that there is ALWAYS a writing assignment on his desk, so be it movies or concert works, teh man is always composing, so rest assured in a few years your Williams collection will be bigger!!

I hope they make a trilogy of films about Palpatine's life, The first film could be about his childhood, say about 8 years old...wouldn't that be great!!!!
-
Yeah i remember those reviews, and yeah i seem to remember that the last review didn't happen, The reviews he did write were fantastic, I guess it became too much work??? Because he really put a lot of time and thought into the reviews he did write, if your reading this thanks!!! I almost emailed the author at the time to thank him for his efforts, but I got lazy!!

Ford, I for one love your posts and I'm grateful for the fact that you take the time to answer all the questions here, stick around please.....but don't let it take you away from making Cds

So, you work for arksquare.com, or are you just REALLY happy with their service? Stefancos- who does not like sponsoring on these MB's. ????????????? Nah i have nothing to do with arksquare, I've ordered from them once and their service was fine, I mentioned them because they stock the otherwise very hard to find Kamen Guitar Concerto Cd that was released only in Japan. Its one of my favourite Kamen pieces and since there were some Kamen fans reading this thread I thought I would recomend the Cd and let people know where they can get it,

so far, and just off the top of my head.... Duel Of The Fates (Orchestral version) Flag Parade (concert suite) Quin Gon's Theme Anakin's Theme, yaeh i'd love a concertised Chase through C too Accross the Stars...with teh end credits ending with Anakin's and Darths Theme, -
Actually Sound The Bells is a favourite of mine!! And I use it to kick off a lot of my "best of Williams Mds" Sound he Bells also opened my first Williams concert, so that may prejudice me a little. MMm well Liberty fanfare, I made a couple of 160 minute MDs, a 75 track Williams mega sampler, and Liberty Fanfare didn't make it on there, I didn't deliberaely leave it out, just that I wanted other pieves on it more, so yeah I guess of the Williams celebratory pieces, this is the one I listen to the least, but i still like it, just like the other pieces more!!

Attention Kamen fans......His guitar Concerto is one of his best pieces!!! I score my copy at arksquare.com!! Don't miss it!!!!
