  1. Thanks for the advice. I don't have Creative but I used Audacity and it is a solution I guess but the quality is dodgy. Really need to get the digital sound right off the disc itself. Anyone else have any advice?
  2. Just got the bonus DVD 'Musical Journey' that comes with the CD soundtrack for 'Revenge of the Sith'. I want to make mp3s of the audio for CD/iPod use (my kid loves the dialogue add ins). However, using the system I use for ALL my DVD ripping (SmartRipper-->DVD2AVI-->TMPGEnc) I get picture... but the sound is simply muffled static. The disc itself features the music in 5.1 or PCM (your choice) but that shouldn't matter, right? I have no problem doing this sort of thing with any other disc. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else on this board have this DVD and have the same problem? Would love some advice. -JT
  3. Hi, folks. I have three tickets for John Williams conducting the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall in Boston on May 22nd. I went ahead and bought them without checking with the Mrs. and it happens to be the same day as her brother's (ugh) wedding. Now I have to unload them, and before I go on eBay I thought I'd let my fellow fans here on the JWFN have a first crack to take them off my hands for face value of $48.00 each ($144 total). I'll eat the taxes and service charges, serves me right. Lemme know via DIRECT e-mail to tesora@thrillfactory.com, as I will not be checking these boards very often. If I don't close a deal with somebody here by Monday night, I am afraid I will have to go to auction. Don't let this offer pass you by. Thanks JT www.thrillfactory.com/SAN
  4. Please do. I have about 45 complete scores on CD (official ones, not boots, several out of print), and many various comps. Just hit me with your best shot, and if I have to go and get CDs I don't already have, I'll get them. For the purposes of this compilation, I'm going for representative over best, and the number of CDs will be dictated by the material. I'm guessing 5-8. Thanks.
  5. You will find that there are a lot of superior versions to the originals, released in different CDs. Such is the case of the Gerdhart Star Wars trilogy re-recording. Indeed. I am planning on using the Hook suite from the Great Fantasy Adventure CD, for instance, since the OS is frustratingly short on representative pieces. Thanks for the heads up. Keep 'em comin' folks. 6. Hi, I am currently creating my "ultimate" John Williams theme compilation CD set. I would like for each of the films John has scored to be represented by only one selection from each score, or track from the respective CD. I am looking for a bit of feedback from other fans as to which tracks make the final version, because some of the scores, as you know, are not so "Main Theme" driven. For instance, "The Raiders March" (longer version with the softer ending) is my choice to represent the whole of the Raiders score in this retrospective approach; The Slave Children/Thugee theme from Temple best represents that film, of course; but once I got to Last Crusade, I hit a stumbling block. I don't want to always resort to the End Title medley of themes because that just reiterates Raiders again. So what track do you think I SHOULD use? It's daunting to have to leave some wonderful "secondary" themes on the cutting room floor, so to speak - but if left to my own whims the compilation will be 25 CDs long! Anyway, your thoughts on any and all scores in the Master's arsenal would be greatly appreciated. Hit me! You can e-mail me direct at tesora@thrillfactory.com. Thanks!
