I've been noticing something interesting. Now that the film is released and on dvd people have been getting a little more concrete in their opinion of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Some critics lists it as one of the greatest disappointments of 2008. I just wanted hard data of who on this site actually enjoyed the film and would rank it among the original trilogy. You can discuss the issue if you want but I'm not willing to enable that kind of behavior because knowing all of you this issue probably has been discussed ad nauseum. So just poll is all I ask for. Again if this exists somewhere else tell me.

Reintroduction into the score world.

Okay I must say that I'm quite embarrassed about this. I've fallen out of the film score world for a while, a very very long while. Maybe two years now. I haven't been buying scores or keeping up with the new soundtracks like I used to and thus I am unaware of what is going on. So to all of you have been waist deep in it and know all the best scores from the best composers tell me what I need to get and what I should avoid. Oh no need to update me on Williams. And my most recent non jw purchase was Beowulf by Silvestri.
Thanks for your help old friends.

What is the last score you listened to?

If there is a thread like this ignore this one and point me in that direction.
For me it would have to be Gabriel Yared's score for Troy i liked it until the wailing like a banshee track. After that everything just goes down hill. I expected a masterpeice.

Do they listen...

to each other's work. Do composers listen to the work of other composers. Does Danny Elfman, JNH, Thomas Newman or Ghiacchino run out and get Williams' new score when it comes out? Does John Williams listen to their work? Does Williams have a score collection that would shame everyone on this board?
Thomas Newman.

Well we have an official Michael Ghiacchino thread, so why not one for Newman. Are there any other Newman fans out there? My last Newman score was Cinderella man, which to me was quite bland. But other than that his work has been brilliant so far. My favorite score has to be Finding Nemo.
