Hmmm...wasn't the theme for his rejected score for Alien Nation used as the theme for A Russia House?

That's true but his score for Alien Nation was unused. It was such a nice theme that he decided that The Russia House was another good opportunity to let it be heard. Since I consider the Russia House one of the very best scores of the 90's I won't argue with his judgment.

This is not unusual for composers who have scores they've worked hard on go unheard. Elements of Alex North's unused score for 2001 turned up in his score to Dragonslayer.

The story goes that Stone and Goldmith had creative differences on scoring the movie. They parted ways before any music was recorded. The theme he wrote for Wall Street was later used in The Russia House.
