#845782 Who is your favourite Beatle - if you had to pick one.

Ringo wasn't the best drummer, singer, or musician, but he worked well enough for a band that didn't require a prodigy at that instrument.  Anything more would have been in conflict with the stronger personalities.  He was an interesting character, and seemed like a good guy.

#842309 Lincoln - Theatrical Trailer Discussion

The 1st act of War Horse was scored as needed in order to establish an emotional attachment between the boy and the horse which would hold through the second half when they are not together.  Also, in an overall sense, the music is there to act as the voice for the concept of mutual love and respect between a boy and a horse.  Their bond is set musically, and that is how the horse communicates.

I'm really getting into these couple of minutes of Lincoln music.  Great sound of the orchestra.   It's amazing how the horns sound.  Really makes you wish you can go back in time and give the 1970s this recording technology.

Wow, congrats to the Brits.  The men's gymnastics team is going to get so laid.  They all looked chuffed to bits (trying to sound forcefully British), shame about the reversal on the silver though.  Didn't think the judges would do that in London of all places, with royalty watching.

Credit to the state-side coverage for abandoning the US men who were terrible and focusing on China and Britain so I could watch good gymnastics.

I could watch a whole movie of Williams simply sitting at his writing desk and piano marking the score sheet with notes.  Seeing him put pencil to paper is magic in and of itself.

#828830 Remembering The Gorgeous Goldsmith (1929-2004)

My interest in Williams has lead me to many great composers that otherwise would have escaped me since they were primarily embedded in the film scoring scene.  Goldsmith was amazing, and I really should spend more time with his music.

Sorry, absolutely no contest on this one.  Alien is a masterpiece, Aliens is a great action movie.
