Williams Writes New Violin Arrangements of Film Themes, Including ‘Across the Stars’ (Listen)

John Williams has written new arrangements for violin and orchestra of some of his film themes, including Cinderella Liberty, Dracula, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter, Across the Stars from Attack of the ClonesMemoirs of a Geisha and Munich.

The arrangements were made for German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, for whom Williams had composed his concert work “Markings”, which premiered last year at Tanglewood.

According to Mutter, Williams did “about 10 new arrangements” for violin and orchestra, which will be included in her new album “Across the Stars”, to be released next year.

The album also forms the basis for a special concert devoted to the music of the Maestro, scheduled for September 14, 2019 at the Munich Königsplatz, in which Anne-Sophie Mutter will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by David Newman.
