A new John Williams composition will be premiered in July at the Mendocino Music Festival in California. The two first movements from Conversations, a piece for piano solo, will be performed by Grammy-winning pianist Gloria Cheng as part of the July 22 program, which will also include the world premiere of Bruce Broughton’s Five Pieces for Piano. UPDATE: Gloria Cheng will premiere a (not yet finished) third movement in November on the Piano Spheres series in Los Angeles. The pianist will record the entire set “when Williams says the piece is finished”.
