  1. Past hour
  2. The LOTR movies are as great today as they were back when they were released.
  3. Well, the way I see it, she’s not a star and should take what she can get. And if that’s the Orville, she should do it. She’s lovely, and talented, but she’s over 30 which makes her 90 in Hollywood years. Her ship sailed with the GI Joe role and the failed Wonder Woman pilot, which I only connected her with after seeing her on the Orville.
  4. That's not terribly surprising given the plot.
  5. Today
  6. The funniest thing about Cavil and Argylle is that he is barely in Argylle despite appearing all over the marketing.
  7. That's how it always should be, IMO. And it's what Spielberg said about Empire Of The Sun (without saying it's his best movie, of course, I don't think Spielberg likes to speak in those terms, neither did Kubrick). Ridley Scott describes Blade Runner as his most personal movie. Somehow I'm more drawn towards their most personal movies than towards their 'audience movies'.
  8. My pick is obviously Henry Cavill because...come on... they're utter morons for not begging him immediately after No Time To Die. But if not him, a few years ago I kinda wonder what Henry Golding would be like as 007. I know he will be criticised as a diversity hire, but he has definitely earned consideration, and definitely has the feeling and suave of Bond.
  9. I did hear her say in an interview that it's not really been great for her to make because it's been such a commitment over the years to start stop and she has no time for other projects. Understandable, but a bit weird considering she should appreciate the greatness she is involved in and recognise it's a very reliable gig if Seth gets a greenlight, as he will definitely want her back. And that is a luxury as an actor, to be wanted desperately for a project.
  10. Of course he loved OUATIH so much. That movie allowed him to pretty much fulfill his dream of traveling back in time to 60s Hollywood and work in a western TV show from that era, like those he saw as a kid. That movie was made more for himself, and especially for him to play make believe that he's actually living in the 60s and not the 2010s, than for anyone else.
  11. "They are all my children, but, I really do think that Brundlefly's favorite movie of mine is my best movie." - Quentin Tarantino Better now?
  12. Which is why we need Mike. Disney would listen to him, since he has connections in the industry, including John Williams himself. And he could explain them even better the value (financial or otherwise) of having a definitive presentation of 14 of the most beloved film scores of all time. Again: Disney won't listen to a two dozens of film music diehards. For them, we're even more insignificant than those guys petitioning Disney to remake The Last Jedi a few years ago. But they may listen someone with connections and contacts in the industry.
  13. In prep for summer concerts in Berlin.
  14. It's weird that Hollywood kept casting him in spy roles but never as Bond, even after Craig retired the role. It would be a better use of his talents than crap like Argylle. I'm not a fan of NTTD either. Honestly, I may like it even less than Spectre (which at least starts strong).
  15. Thank you for this, @Bayesian. I admire your honesty. At the end of the day, it's horses for courses. You like NTTD, and I don't. I think that there is room enough for both opinions. Don't you mean: "Close, but no Delectados"?
  16. Benjamin Wallfisch scores Twisters
  17. He has to wash the turtleneck once in a while.
  18. I'm bumping this thread to see if anyone has any of these. Particularly the seminars: https://web.archive.org/web/20051103063556/http://www.theindustrystore.com:80/doause.html I'm interested especially in the Elliot Goldenthal one. Film Music Mag seems dead and I don't know if there's a successor site, or any way to contact someone involved in these old things. Would really like to get my hands on them.
  19. Grainy one. Every time. I don’t like my movies looking like generative AI made them.
  20. A pretty solid indication of the fact that an artist's evaluation of the own work often is totally amiss.
  21. I’m usually simpatico with your position on most things, but you’re way off base here—NTTD was a fine movie. Even got me a bit misty-eyed toward the end.
  22. That something is curated doesn't mean it has to be abridged or incomplete.
