  1. Past hour
  2. And I was 8, which means I only watched it when it came out on DVD Children aged 8 today weren't even born when The Hobbit trilogy had just released its last movie.
  3. Just like Batman, The Last Crusade, Ghostbusters 2, Lethal Weapon 2 and, by the end of the year, The Little Mermaid and Back to the Future Part 2. It must've been a crazy year for movie nerds! Probably the most packed full of blockbusters since Jaws and Star Wars invented the concept.
  4. RIP Colonel Tigh. https://variety.com/2024/film/people-news/terry-carter-dead-battlestar-galactica-mccloud-1235979429/
  5. I think, meanwhile there are more Horner expansions than Horner scores.
  6. In the meantime Raiders of the Lost Ark and E.T. suffer a little bit in my view from their lazy des ex machina ending. Didn't bother me when they came out.
  7. Today
  8. It's more difficult surely for traditional orchestral sounding composers. Write a sound-designy score nowadays with expensive equipment, and you might end up getting an Oscar!
  9. It seems as though there are far more opportunities to get in, but far less opportunities to stand out.
  10. A related film, again based on a Kazantakis novel, is the 1957 film, He who must die. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050237/
  11. I was in the process of ordering this then I realized it mentions Bluray audio: I thought the bluray would include the full concert video. Does anybody know for sure?
  12. I have and I was bored. I haven’t read Kazantzakis’ novel, but I plan to.
  13. Hmmmmm... I should watch that one too. I have it watched once many years ago and I don't remember anything. Easter is coming here in Greece in one week or so, and I have started watching biblical and other related films.
  14. I still have The Last Temptation of Christ on my watch list. Never seen it.
  15. Was it easier for Goldsmith, Williams, Silvestri, Horner etc. to become household names than it is for film composers now?
  16. A sanitized Hollywood version of the story of Christ. Spectacular, but I personally think it relied much on unwanted scenes like the two battles with Barabbas, the Roman centurion etc.. I think I prefer The Greatest Story ever told, and certainly Jesus of Nazareth. And of course, above all, I love The Passion of Christ, for the depiction of Christ's last hours. I couldn't understand in the other versions the degree of his martyrdom.
  17. In the last 5 years, Disney has only licensed out six scores to Intrada. Half of those were James Horner scores. Pretty cool
  18. Added Honey I Shrunk The Kids (Intrada) to Disney
