  1. It's a very fun and enjoyable movie that you enjoy while watching it, but you're not dying to see the next chapter as badly as you were after FOTR I mean with FOTR you watch this pack of 9 people go through a huge arduous journey where they were chased and/or attacked by a variety of evil forces every turn they took, and 2 members of the party DIED along the way, plus the movie ends with the remaining members split into THREE different groups, with 2 of them facing the most difficult task all alone! When AUJ ends, everyone in the group is perfectly fine, on top of a mountain hugging each other, after going through a few places where they had comical adventures with some silly villains. Really only the Gollum sequence was anywhere near transcendant

  2. Hmm, I've just realised that that movie has almost entirely vacated my train of thought. It's fading fast. It's obviously nowhere near as good as LotR (and possibly just not that good a movie anyway) .

Nah, you just didnt read the thread and thought it safe to assume people would be going ballistic, when they're really not. Everyone knows how the Oscars work by now not to invest more than a passing, quietly optimistic interested in the outcome where Williams is concerned.

I thought tonight's show was one of the best ones in recent memory. Just me?

Confirming there's no way he wrote a second of CoS Well, at least Selma Hayak is not giving out the best score award. She's bad luck to Williams Jurassic Park music

  9. It's a great score, but definitely not Marianelli's best. His best work is arguably his powerful epic score for Agora. Scores like Brothers Grimm, Atonement and Jane Eyre are definitely stronger scores as well.

    GAME OF THRONES

Saw episode 4 now. I enjoyed the developments all the stories are taking, including Ed Stark investigating the king's hand's death, the white-haired queen lady getting her brother in line, everything going on with the wall and the training of Sam, and Ed's wife having the brothel draw swords on the imp at the end. Every episode so far has been great!

  12. yes! of course...but since it's Abrahms directing, if Williams doesnt do it, it is still a Win-Win situation for me, hehehe

  13. I'm not sure how helpful it is to analyse the passage in question in light of a lydian modality. The passage is not truly lydian, nor is it truly a case of modal writing. Rather, like so often with Williams, it is a matter of shifting freely (and often!) between various "modalities" -in fact, so freely and frequently, it is probably more accurate to describe it as "free chromaticism" (in a tonal context). Actually, this is true of all the examples in this thread so far.
