  1. It's been amazing and moving. What a great orchestra the CSO is. Johnny looked very good, engaged and moved. I'll report as soon as I'm able. Can't wait for tomorrow!

  2. The Shelob underscore reminds me of Shore's THE BROOD. Wonderfully expressionist.

  3. This is quite beautiful.. British department store John Lewis has released an ambitious annual Christmas advertisement, a £1 million hand-drawn spot with stop motion backgrounds called The Bear and the Hare. The piece was directed by Yves Geleyn and Elliot Dear through Hornet/Blinkink. The hand-drawn character animation was created by two veterans of Disney’s former animation studio in Orlando: Dominic Carola who runs Premise Entertainment and Aaron Blaise who gained plenty of experience drawing bears when he co-directed Brother Bear. Aaron offered some details to Cartoon Brew about the project: “I designed all of the characters while Dom and I supervised all of the animation. I personally animated all of the Bear and the Hare while Dom and his crew animated the rest of the animals. It was taken all the way through final line at Premise in Orlando. It was so great to do 2D again! I was even working on paper at my old Disney animation desk! Something I hadn’t done since Brother Bear!“ http://www.cartoonbrew.com/advertising/disney-florida-veterans-create-hand-drawn-spot-for-british-retailer-john-lewis-90804.html

  6. Completely unexpected indeed. Also they once again use that most horrid of words, "epic", which obviously can mean same as good, great, giantly bombastic and everything in between.

  7. You will ... Oooh another possible new theme! I hope it has some kind of hint at the Shelob music! It's not new! It was in AUJ!It might be the section of music you mean from AUJ or it might be not. We can't know for certain until we hear the new score.Indeed. Well said. You obviously know something we don't. Unless I have badly missed some obvious clue that is buried somewhere in these myriad Hobbit threads.

  8. I'm not countering positivity, I'm making my negativity known. Having a random guy, based on his popularity with Jackson's daughter no less, produce a random song in one day is just careless, and it shows. If making an effort, considering musical choices, craftsmanship and showing a great deal of musicality counts as being "overproduced", then please let every song be that way. To me it seems like on this whole project, the only person still putting the LotR-level of care into music is indeed the composer. So far, the whole thing was nothing but a musical mess. I don't care for the circumstances of the song, nor do I take its backstory into account for my judgement of the final work, which is lovely. The fact that a day was spent on it has no relevance to its quality. But, you have a right to be as bitter as you like. It's your forté 'round these parts!

  9. Well the interesting thing about Bilbo's 'Baggins' theme is that PJ would have heard it very early indeed, since it was in the first trailer.

  12. A John Williams score always take quite a while to fully sink in. Some of them I may like almost immediatly, but I can never get a full grasp of the score after a couple of days and a few listens. In a few weeks I will give a more definitive opinion. I like what I hear very much. But I want to get a full grasp. Sleepers, although it is a much different kind of score, did very little for me after the first 5 or 6 first listens. Now it's probably my favorite JW score
