What a thoroughly fruitless discussion this one is. Easily the most bland and pointless plot contrivance in the entire saga.2 points -

In my very humble opinion, this is a masterful score. I'm loving it more and more after each listen.2 points -
Ennio Morricone Anaylsis - Jill's Theme (Once Upon a Time in the West)
Sharkissimo reacted to Ludwig for a topic
I'm starting a new mini-series of three blog posts on Morricone's well-known score for Once Upon a Time in the West. Here's my take on Jill's theme (the main theme): http://www.filmmusicnotes.com/ennio-morricones-score-for-once-upon-a-time-in-the-west-part-1-of-3-jills-theme-main-theme/ Enjoy!1 point -

Howard Shore's The Desolation Of Smaug (Hobbit Part 2)
SafeUnderHill reacted to gkgyver for a topic
Why exactly is this discussed in the score thread anyway? But keep going, 100 pages before the score's released ain't shabby1 point -
Can I just add that if someone DID think that AUJ was the best thing since sliced bread, it would be their opinion and just as valid as anybody else's. There's no real consensus. Some loved it, some liked it, some found it disappointing, some hated it. Everyone is entitled to their view.1 point

Nailed on to be Kili.So part of the gang stays at Lake-Town when Thorin goes to Erebor? I would perhaps bet on Bard's children rather than any of the dwarves on this one. Unless you have some better info on this. Yes I thought that was confirmed.Ah I must have missed this bit of news. What an odd deviation from the novel. But then again this whole trilogy is one big deviation from the book. Not a big deal for me at this point.I think it has also something to do with many of the dwarves being redundant from a storytelling point of view, and you can deal with them a lot easier in two separate storylines than having 80% just sit "On the doorstep" while Bilbo, Thorin and Balin act out the story. Yes I know there is that film making logic. But then again most of the dwarves are window dressing for Thorin and Balin anyway. If that was the thinking then I really can't blame Jackson and Co. What made the members of the Fellowship so great was that they split up and each group had their own story lines. I'm interested to see where they go with this. In LotR the natural split up of the Fellowship worked to the advantage of the film makers really. Here they have to force it since nothing of the sort happens in the novel. And yes there is a certain filmic narration logic to it. Makes also the story telling more compelling at Lake-Town when there are members of the company there to witness the events (and these are people the audience is hopefully invested in).1 point

Listening to score has made me really really excited for the Barrels out of Bond and Forest River part of the score. Sounds like it'll be a great set piece.1 point -

The line in question is not Arwen's theme; Arwen Revealed is a separate figure. The use of this line in DOS is consistent with its use in FOTR.1 point -
