  1. This is the kind of primitive, Stravinskian sound Grey wants Desplat to explore.

  2. He is at the end. And actually the quiet build-up of the theme fits the scene very well I think. I always thought that with Lucas' imaginative direction, actor's passionate performances, the music is too much. Karol

  7. Yeah I'm excited to see what he comes up with. Hopefully the continued use of Ligeti is a good sign of where they want to go musically.

    Preparing my thesis

Several books have tackled the question of film music's purpose, and there has been a good variety of answers. Here are some I'd recommend in addition to Shark's excellent suggestions: - Royal S. Brown, Overtones and Undertones - Claudia Gorbman, Unheard Melodies - Peter Larsen, Film Music - Kathryn Kalinak, Settling the Score - The Hollywood Film Music Reader - The Routledge Film Music Sourcebook The last two have particularly good and well-known quotations from Bernard Herrmann and Aaron Copland, which may be helpful.

  10. The Wire, last 3 episodes of the final season: This is hands down one of the best if not the best TV show I have ever seen and the last episodes didn't disappoint. Now this is a way to end a series! A true journey. Magnificent.
