That was an amazing read, thank you for posting it, brought a tear to my eye! I decided to copy and paste it here, for posterity, and for anyone who doesn't like to go to Facebook to read things:2 points -

What action set piece do you prefer on The Indiana Jones Saga?

Belly of the Steel Beast/On The Tank for me! I recognize that Desert Chase is probably more iconic, and Underground Chaos more fun and rousing. And The Jungle Chase is no slouch either, especially when you account for all the components not on the OST. But the Tank Chase in TLC has, for me, the best cue-specific themes & ostinati and overall dramatic shape, especially towards the climax. Plus I'm a sucker for Williams in his neo-Baroque mode, and this one is virtually a tank cannon canon! Sure, it's not the most original, mind you, but Belly of the Steel Beast is a Williams action set-piece at its most overpoweringly effective. Speaking of, anyone else remember this one? Pure, undisguised Williams pastiche, but great stuff all the same. I guess my love of Belly of the Steel Beast is so strong I really like hearing what essentially amounts to a full-scale variation on the cue (with some dabs of Desert Chase too), at least for its first half or so.2 points -

Its called "setup and payoff" or "planting and payoff". Generally, if you were trying to break-down a script structurally in film school, you'd actually mark the set-ups with numbers (set-up 1, 2, etc) and the payoff to correspond, and it can be a useful exercise in general. Depending on how far apart the setup and the payoff are, you'll often have a reminder of the setup sometime in the middle. Ideally, the bulk of the setups will be in Act I; Act II will be littered with reminders, and Act III will contain the various payoffs. To be crude, in film criticism, a setup without a payoff is bloat, and a payoff without a setup (or too closely to the setup) is a Deus-ex-Machina. Obviously now with serialized films, we often have setup and payoff between separate entries in a series, too.1 point -

The Irish will be next on the list: Chief O'Hara, Tommy & Nicole in Far & Away, Jenette Goldstein as the Irish immigrant mother in Titanic, Colin Farrell as the new Penguin...the list is endless....begorrah!1 point -

The Deep - any film in which Jacqueline Bisset spends the first 10 minutes underwater in little more than a white tee and bikini bottoms can't be all bad. An adaptation of a Peter Benchley novel, this passable diving adventure has both sunken morphine ampules and treasure as its McGuffins, a touch of voodoo weirdness, Nick Nolte and (his experiences on previous watery Benchley adaptation Jaws obviously not having put him off) Robert Shaw. Oh, and a John Barry score. Team America : World Police - Trey Parker and Matt Stone's 'War On Terror' satire, made with puppets (as you do, lol) ... consequently this can sometimes seem like the makers of the original Thunderbirds got drunk and decided to 'cut loose' one day. A decent amount of chuckles to be had as jihadists, over-zealous US military response and do-gooding celebs all get it in the neck. And in these global pandemic/race war times, the idea of a North Korean dictator threatening the world seems almost quaint.1 point -

I sometimes wonder if companies are just doing things like this to specifically cause outrage at this point, because I've never heard anyone complain about Aliens and some of the other movies the warnings have been slapped on to. I'm not denying that some people are too up their own asses to recognize what might actually be considered problematic, but based on how modern culture has evolved, this is reeking of corporate businesses knowing this will get attention and thus bring more awareness to whatever movie service this is. It's more likely just something they've done just to save face in case something happens, but it's hard to tell in these times. Like honestly: tell me if you've actually seen a person rag on about how outdated Aliens is. If they exist, it sure as hell never popped up in my feed that shows me that sort of thing from time to time. The only people I've seen be in uproar, ironically enough, is all the people that normally mock outrage culture. Guess they gotta be angry if the "snowflakes" aren't adhering to the confusing "SJW" narratives this time.1 point -
Except for Black Panther and Captain Marvel. These movies are just the right amount of "woke" that people at Twitter constantly demand.1 point

What a ridiculous "warning" to include on that film. This whole #cancelculture thing has to end, NOW!1 point

THE LAST JEDI Man, I really, really, really like this movie. A sharp, witty script, good performances, poignant scenes, sly humour, and shots that approach visual poetry. I just don't get all the negativity, surrounding this film.1 point -

Listened to one of my ol' standby favorites yesterday. The cello melody that comes in here, and the following chorale have this bleak inevitability contrasted with a wan, faded optimism, like sunlight peeking through the window of a jail cell prisoner. Thanks for the suggestions guys I'm not sure about Revenge of the Sith. So far I'm thinking taking the original Struzan poster, remove Vader and keep the backdrop behind the characters black. Any ideas otherwise?1 point
