  2. Hey we need a picture for the album. Can I put my stuff down first? No, let's go, let's go.

  4. That's so sad! Many of his scores will truly carry his legacy, but one I'm really fond of is Blade Runner, especially the Tears in the Rain theme. Such a beautiful theme. May he rest in peace.

  6. Hermit Luke and his arc was one of the best things about TLJ. That's how you do something new with a bland character who's been around for decades. While I would have loved seeing the original trio interacting with each other their tragic separation and lack of reunion is a more compelling story IMO. It hits extra hard after Fisher's death. I can totally understand why it divided people, but for me it's the fulcrum of the whole trilogy. Had Trevorrow's (flawed, but infinitely superior) script for the third film been realised I genuinely think the sequel trilogy would have gone down much better than it did.

  8. Abrams definitely set-up Luke being reluctant to rejoin the conflict. Johnson just took it further with cutting himself off from The Force and with the backstory of him having contemplated killing Kylo.

  9. No one’s done a detailed breakdown to figure that out yet, as far as I can tell. The soundtrack is 6 minutes longer than the amount of music in the film (44 minutes vs. 38 minutes). However, the Angela’s Ashes OST is longer than the amount of score in the film, and that score still has a decent amount of unreleased material, not even counting what alternates might exist. I found some cue titles that are not on the soundtrack. However, they could still be present in tracks that combine two or more cues:

  10. For me The Rise of Skywalker is the worst of them all. It just never clicked for me. Never even had a real engaging sequence. At least Attack of the Clones has fun action sequences and interesting things that happen (often visually). But TROS... it all looked like everything we've seen before. And don't get me started on all the other issues that movie had. And people like to hate on Last Jedi... to me that one at least felt like a movie.

  13. My first impression is that it's extremely good, cello sounds beefy, very present and detailed. Same for the harp, it's like you're standing right in front of it. But it's not that the solo instruments are overbearing or anything, the balance with the orchestra... well it just sounds right to me.

  15. I agree, it was JJ who painted RJ into a corner where he had to justify why the hell Luke decided to exile himself on a secluded island, abandon all his friends despite knowing their plight, and explain how Snoke/KR/The FO hadn't already located Luke years prior (on account of how force-sensitive he is).

  16. I’ll defend this movie until the day I die. I kinda love it. I just love this world & this era of the SW universe. Yes the dialogue is cheesy and the acting is a bit stiff, but there’s more imagination and visual wonder in 2 minutes of this film than most have in their entire runtimes. I love the little detective story Obi Wan is on, & god help me, but I even like Hayden Christensen as Anakin. Darth Vader was once a whiny, pouting love struck teenager. Frankly, Star Wars has never been an acting showcase. Mark Hamil in the original also comes off a little whiny at times. I can always excuse iffy acting and dialogue is the story is interesting & something is going on visually. This movie has that in spades. yes a lot of the CGI doesn’t hold up, but again, that doesn’t bother me in the same way Star Trek TV FX don’t hold up & that doesn’t bother me. I just dig the story being told in the prequels. I find them much more interesting & imaginative than the sequel trilogy. When you add in the Clone Wars TV show? It’s magic

    STRANGER THINGS

Nothing like that yet. This is the latest from Michael Stein's Instagram: Sounds like it will be a single OST album as Season 2 and Season 3 were. Well, Season 2 was depending on where you got it from. Some places it was one release, others it was two, but all the same material. Here's hoping it's long considering the extra huge length of this season. I personally found Season 3's OST a bit too short. Season 2 left off a couple of nice cues as well. Speaking of... Super excited for this. Not sure if I've ever mentioned this here, but after Season 1 came out, these have been events for me. I take the day of release off, so that I can get to bed early the day before and watch it right when it goes live. I rarely do it for anything, but it's fun to go for it with this show...going to be more difficult than usual this year with the lengthier episodes! Lol. Can't complain though, it'll be nearly two seasons in one!

  22. Episode 7 definitely loses points for originality, but had more energy and a better score than either of its follow-ups. More importantly, you still could’ve taken the story anywhere after it ended.

  23. TFA hyped me up in the beginning, only with later rewatches did it get worse and worse and worse; and I was willing to forgive/overlook TLJ's faults (or even pretend they weren't there when a vocal part of the goddamn internet pretended it only had faults) for all its efforts; but 9 brought the entire trilogy down completely, making me want to even think about them maybe even less than the prequels. The OT, on the other hand, rewatched unaltered after the Rinzler books and some time away from these wrecks, still feels fresh and fun and impressive looking.

  24. TFA and JJ decided to hint at Luke being a recluse in a far away system. Unless JJ & RJ decided on this before TLJ???? I don't follow most of SW so I wouldn't know, but I doubt it. RJ handled Luke EXACTLY how the character was portrayed at the end of TFA, and handled it well. Whether you agree or disagree with how, that's ON TFA! You don't all of a sudden hint at a character being miserable and alone on a planet and then midway through he becomes 'return of the jedi luke'. Regardless, his force projection was an incredible send off to the character that TFA MADE! IMO, Luke should HAVE NEVER BEEN IN THE SEQUEL TRILOGY. He should have just been mentioned as the Jedi 'god' he truly was. He should have been a myth to all these new characters. The sequels shouldn't have had ANY original characters. It should have gone it's own way without relying on old characters to make us feel good in our movie theater seat.

  27. (1) This sounds like an awesome story you're putting together and you have to let us know when it airs, Tim! (2) In exchange for that, I'll track down the instances the JP theme has been used in the Simpsons. I know it was used at least once, probably a decade ago. Let me dig into it.] EDIT: OK, the instance I was remembering is in episode 14, season 22 ("Angry Dad: The Movie") at 14:07, where it plays over a montage of Homer hogging all the credit from Bart for an animated movie they made. EDIT 2: Season 31, episode 21 ("The Hateful Eight-Year-Olds"), starting at 3:40. Lisa learns that her new friend owns horses. They set it up just like in the movie, with Lisa even wearing Dr. Grant's outfit. EDIT 3: Season 6, episode 6 ("Treehouse of Horror V") @ 10:19. Homer transports himself back in time and marvels at the dinosaurs around him. Note that the music here only imitates the JP theme, but in a way that it's impossible to mistake the reference. EDIT 4: Season 30, episode 4 ("Treehouse of horror XXIX") @ 16:45. A parody of the JP theme plays during a promo video for "Geriatric Park," which is itself a parody of Jurassic Park.

  28. Is there a chance that Sony will just quietly press a new batch of corrected discs and sell those once the first run has either sold out or has been recalled from the warehouse? Maybe if we wait a couple months to buy this CD, it won't have this issue anymore.

  34. But if you think about it. If Luke was on the island and just using the force all the time, the First Order would've found him already. Either Snoke or Kylo Ren could've used the force for that. So it makes sense that he cut himself of from the force, otherwise he would've already been found.

  43. After episode 1 the expectations were lowered to a reasonable level, so I enjoyed it a lot in the cinema. It was actually the first time to watch an army of jedi knights in action. That was quite uplifting. Anyway, the whole arena part is great and unlike anything that we saw in the other movies.

  44. Good times. Remember going to Target to get the mystery track? I went to Star Wars Celebration II in advance of the film by a few weeks, and it was an amazing experience. Fandom was less divided, and the attendance wasn't out of control. I remember the streets of Indianapolis were absolutely empty around breakfast time, and we saw Anthony Daniels, on his own, just strolling around by himself. We figured what the hell, so we introduced ourselves, and he was delightful to engage with. He was less rehearsed, less jaded, and genuinely happy to talk to us.
