  1. What is really needless is when people paint a cardboard image of this place, suggesting it's infested by non-critical, raving fanboys and that the ones who *can* think -the superior intellectual beings- are somehow a 'victim' of the mindless, Williams-idolating first group. NOBODY called anything a masterpiece based on the released clips. Nobody. I know it, KK knows it.
  2. KM CALLS IT A MASTERPIECE..! Such typical JWFan-boy schtick..! Very amusing.
  3. WHERE did you read this..??? Is there another BFG thread I don't know about..??? Your completely one-dimensional, false sketch of this board and your 'holier than thou'-attitude is the truly amusing thing here...
  4. I think it's a beautiful theme..! Greatly looking forward to this score..!
  5. Again; I'll use my own (succesful) experience as a blueprint here: I would say it is HIGHLY likely that Williams won't conduct the full program. If he's in the audience, during an intermission would be the best chance to get something signed and/or shake his hand. I politely asked a Tanglewood representative if I could approach him. He said: 'Of course you can..!', but at that moment I was the only one. I get the feeling many of the people in attendance have seen Williams many times. They are residents of Albany and the surrounding townships and they see Williams more as a neighbour, a familiar face, than as an 'almighty film music God'. I feel Williams is very much at ease at Tanglewood, its surroundings and 'its' people. It will all depend on if your approach doesn't damage that peaceful and solemn atmosphere. Good luck..!
  6. Something about coming from The Netherlands, where to sign the program booklet (it was Williams who thought it was a good idea to put it at the top where it would be most visible - I wasn't able to make any decision at that moment)... The impact made me forget about what else was said.... "Whaaahaallbbblaagh!" indeed...
  7. It was an awesome moment. Surreal, magical. I remember he put his hand on my shoulder at the end and said: 'Enjoy the rest of the concert my friend'. It still makes me smile 6 years later.
  8. I was able to get an autograph from Williams at Tanglewood in 2010 and share a few words with him. He was sitting in the audience during part of the program which was conducted by Keith Lockhart. During intermission, Williams remained near his seat and talked to some fans, gave away autographs, etc. I guess I was really lucky and it was a different time...
  9. Tried listening to it yesterday once again.... Had to turn it off somewhere during the abysmal 'We Shall Do It!'..... I just can't get into it.... Want to like it though........ I was wondering: is there anyone out there who really enjoys this musical..? And what is it exactly that makes it so cringeworthy..? Is it the compositions, or perhaps the performances..?
  10. I've been an active John Williams fan for 23 years now and I've noticed I've been coming back to the same themes and cues over the years, music that I consider my favorite among John's remarkable output. The Throne Room and Finale, E.T. and Me, the finale from Close Encounters, etc. There must be about a hundred pieces of music that I've played over and over again since 1993 and these selections have -and always will be- very dear to me. Somehow, Luke And Leia from Return Of The Jedi never joined that elite list of favorite themes, though Leia's Theme and Han Solo And The Princess have been played multiple (read: countless) times. I've always viewed Luke And Leia as an inferior brother (or sister?) of the Romantic themes that came before. Until about two weeks ago when I was listening to it after quite some time and suddenly it struck me as a revelation: it's a gorgeous piece of music and has one of the most profound and well written melodies of Williams' entire career..! Did you have a theme become a favorite that had been 'under the radar' for a long time..?
  11. 1. Luke's Theme 2. The Force Theme 3. The Imperial March 4. The Rebel Fanfare 5. Rey's Theme 6. Leia's Theme 7. Across The Stars 8. Duel Of The Fates 9. Han Solo And The Princess 10. Yoda's Theme
  12. Yeah, I'm really stuck at 'can't seperate my opinion of the film from the score', but BB begs to differ... Some elaboration on why he despises this particular score so much would definately clarify things.....
  13. As I understood, the original idea was to have the theme morph from an innocent piece into something more dark, possible even The Imperial March by the time we reach the climax of ROTS. A wonderful concept which never came to be...
  14. It's mainly that. AOTC is a great score, with an incredibly strong love theme and the single greatest cue from the entire PT: Confrontation with Count Dooku and Finale.
