Sandor got a reaction from Stempel in The Songs Of John Williams: which are essential?
I'm busy assembling a CD of the best and most memorable songs by John Williams. I've already made a cover! Which songs do you feel should be on this? And did I forget any 'big name' artists that performed or recorded a John Williams song?
Making the cut (UPDATED January 14, 2019):
'If We Were In Love' - Luciano Pavarotti
'The Same Hello, The Same Goodbye' - Barbra Streisand
'Dream Away' - Frank Sinatra
'Somewhere In My Memory' - Bette Midler
'Can You Read My Mind' - Shirley Bassey
'Moonlight' - Sting
'For Always' - Lara Fabian and Josh Groban
'Make Me Rainbows' - Ella Fitzgerald
'The Long Goodbye' - Harry Connick Jr.
'Hold You' - Joseph Williams
'Uno Di Qua L'Adro Di Là' - Ornella Vanoni
'My Inamorata' - Tony Bennett
'Nice To Be Around' - Johnny Mathis
'How Can I Remember' - Michael Dees
'America, The Dream Goes On' - John Denver
'Wednesday Special' - Paul Williams
'When You're Alone' - OST version
BONUS TRACKS:
'Can You Read My Mind' - Lea Salonga
'Moonlight' - Gloria Estefan
'Nice To Be Around' - Freddy Cole
'Can You Read My Mind' - Maureen McGovern

Sandor got a reaction from SteveMc in The Songs Of John Williams: which are essential?
She sang Moonlight at the Oscar ceremony in 1996 instead of Sting...
Look up Lea Salonga’s version on YouTube: it’s mindblowing and it’s like you’ll hear it for the first time.

I hope it's OK if I post Mike Mattessino's recent Facebook post here, since there were no pertinent details about the illness other than to comfort us all a little bit -- which we need right now:

I prefer it as well! I adore the scope of the piece!

To anyone who can find a video of the only known live performance of the Williams’ piece commonly referred to as ‘Satellite Celebration’, conducted by Seiji Ozawa during the New Year’s Day broadcast recording from Tokyo.
It’s one of my favorite Williams’ compositions and I’ve been living with that one crappy sounding bootleg recording for too long now. I would at least love to see how it was performed live, with its various locations, soloists and all.
Somebody (a LEGEND) found the Michael Dukakis fanfare a couple of years back buried deep within the video archives of the internet...
...How about this one?
