Sandor got a reaction from Jurassic Shark in Where do you rank the score for "The Last Jedi"?
I've been on this board as long as anyone here and I clearly remember the initial reaction to every single Star Wars released post-ROTJ has been quite lukewarm. AOTC and ROTS were classified as 'mediocre' works and even TPM got its share of harsh criticism.

In 10 years, everybody will find it brilliant.

I'm not saying The Last Jedi is my favorite Star Wars score of all time, but there is a lot of beauty and power in there. Those last 4 tracks alone! I think the Sequel Trilogy -taken as one body of work- with Rey's Theme, Kylo Ren's Theme, March Of The Resistance and now Rose's Theme is turning out to be a great and unique work. I just really hope Williams will be able to complete his epic 9 film magnum opus with Episode IX.

I think a score needs repeated listening (in its complete/expanded form, if possible) AND the passage of time in order to be properly compared with an older work.

Saw the film yesterday and I thought it was amazing. I was disappointed by TFA (liked it, wanted to love it). The score worked wonderful. So glad I can type that, after months of building up excitement. Hope you guys will enjoy it as much as I did.

At the very worst, Episode 9 will be the next and final thing he works on, and events cause it to remain unfinished. But there are teams of highly skilled craftspeople who'll be ready to sweep in and finish it in his honour if and when that happens.

I don't want to jinx it, but I can imagine Williams going for another 5 years or so. Episode 9. Another Spielberg. And Indy 5.

Poe’s theme does return in the first half of the film, but I didn’t notice it during the last act.

I’d compare Rose’s theme, at least the first half, to a major mode version of the force theme.  Usually performed by higher woodwinds, flute, clarinet, etc.  But it gets big statements as well.  The opening interval , at least as I remember it, was a perfect 5th - however rhythmically and as far as the contour it feels like the force theme for the first bar or two.  If I remember right the melody is always in 4/4, with two upward slurring sixteenth’s on the last beat of the first measure, followed by a beat 1 in a downward interval.  The second measure ends the same way.  That much I remember clearly.  It is a long lined melody.  Maybe not as long as Poe’s complete theme, but long regardless.

Hedwig - yes, that’s one of those moments.

I can't say that the load of emotions and beauty is as big as in "Anakin's Betrayal", I won't go that far, but it sounded big and effective. I  just have to repeat that these are short fragments, lasting approximately 30-40 seconds. Whether and in what form they will be on the album, I have no idea.
