That is the way they think though.

No dialogue is usually better than Lucas' dialogue.

The prequel duels, particularly RotS, just try too hard to be epic. That being said, it's hard to beat the 3-way duel in TPM as a pure action setpiece, it's great. It just lacks the emotion of the OT duels. I do really like the above "lava explosion" moment in RotS. It's a great image and Williams matches it perfectly musically. I've always said I thought that the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel would have worked much better without any dialogue during it at all.

I'm glad I won't have to save much. If the final price really is $55 bucks LaLa is practically giving it away. Great job guys! I'm looking forward to seeing what this LaLa/EA partnership will bring us in the future too. I don't care what state modern film music is in, has there ever been a better time to be a fan? We're spoiled!

What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
Tron: Legacy You know, this is pretty good. A few cues are to "dance techno/electronica" for my taste, but for the most part it's a nice listen. -
Good to see his bitterness over the RotK situation isn't holding him back.

Same here. For the sake of it : I like. I've never read the books but I've heard good things about them. I think our old pal Justin was a big fan.

I've always been selective about what I get, for both budgetary and practical reasons. I never want to get to the point where I'm so overwhelmed with STUFF I feel like I could never listen to it all. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

Inception Not nearly as clever as it obviously thinks it is, in my opinion. It was decent, and original, but I was left feeling very underwhelmed. And not confused at all, I had no problems following it.

You won't. - Uni Actually I did.

It might be easier to list the times the Academy got the score award right rather than wrong.

What is the last Television series you watched?

No, I'd be surprised if it was even shot high def. The DVD transfer isn't very good either. -

It's worth a viewing, especially if you're a NASA nerd pining for them to someday return to their glory days of the 60s like me. It's all historically accurate and doesn't do anything to artificially create drama, it's pretty much an acted out documentary. -

I have the album, but if you followed Jason's link, it only has the opening and closing titles. Reminds me a bit of his Robin Hood theme. I didn't but I looked it up myself later, I was asking to spur discussion more than anything else. But yeah it's just loaded with period songs, and it's OOP too. Disappointing, he wrote some really good full scores, the one for the Apollo 9 ep standing out for me. -
The anniversary edition, edited into film order. Just listened to it the other day, actually. I do hope that someday one of the labels will give us a 2 disc set with the properly remastered, chronological film score and the OST.

Pirates? Are you kidding? Might as well just jam a couple of icepicks into your ears, it's less painful. -

Following trips the last two years to Johnson and Kennedy Space Centers, I've finally watched the HBO docudrama From the Earth to the Moon. Good stuff, though I was a bit disappointed that the whole Mercury/Gemini years were reduced down to just the first episode. I was especially impressed by Kamen's main title piece and the eps he scored. Is there a CD release? -
Shit. Big, mouldering, steamy shit. It's as Oscar-worthy as my pants, or even worse, Steef's pants. Thanks, Jim. Graphic. I guess the Academy's trying to make up for their rare moment of good sense by giving Giacchino, the best composer working full time today, and a properly good to great score an Oscar last year.

...If that's what passes for an Oscar-nominated score these days we are indeed doomed.
