CLUE
Art Direction by Mark Banning (aka Mrs. Peacock)
Mrs. Peacock was a man?!
(yes, that's a quote from the movie)

Get Star Trek V. Don't think about it, just do it.
-
It would be nice if a double disc set was released, much like Intrada has done lately, with the album on one disc and the film score on another one.
I was thinking that yesterday too while listening to it.
Damn straight! I've come to appreciate Jaws more and more with each passing year. Truly Williams' first masterpiece.
Insert the phrase "accepted by the mainstream world that put him on the map and made him must-listen material to people outside the small tiny world of niche soundtrack collecting" after "masterpiece," and you will avoid the people in this small tiny world of niche soundtrack collecting offering up advice on which "masterpiece" soundtracks came first.
Nah, they can have their say, I'll just ignore their "advice".

I don't think so, and yes. Maybe not specifically those cues, but there's a compilation of Davros music in the track...Davros.
-
Woj, it's Michael Bay. You put more thought in that post than he has for the entire Transformers series.
-
Ever since the live projection of 'The Runaway Bride' I wanted the taxi chase cue so badly, and there it was on the series 3 disc!
Still my favorite Gold Doctor Who cue.

Clue is a fun movie. The cast is tremendous.

Oscars
:sleepy:

At least the chat's always fun.
So HTTYD did get a nom. Good. I haven't heard it but it's gotten a pretty good reception around here.
I still don't get the 10 Best Film nominees thing.
-
That's what the inertial dampeners are for.
-
Neither Let Me In or How to Train Your Dragon will be nominated. And since those were probably the two scores most well received by most film score aficionados and experts this year (along with maybe Desplat's Potter), that should automatically tell you something is really wrong with the process.
-
It's gotten even worse since LotR. I was happy JJ and co. didn't try to stretch Star Trek any longer than 2 hours.
-
I have a feeling Inception will win, if only because it appears that it might be snubbed in the major categories (nominated, but not win). Toy Story 3, The King's Speech, and Tron: Legacy are all better scores though.
Let Me In

That's what you get for not multiplying your thread fixes by a factor of four.

"No, no, get me the beer! Not the peanuts! No...beer! Bring it up here!"

Link to what?

Looks like another snoozefest for the score award. Oh well, at least the chat will be fun.
-
The most likely start would be the last Saturday in March or the first one in April, that's when it usually is. The rumor is that BBC America will be having same day airings like they did for the Christmas Special this year.
And regarding Gold CD selections, I've been pretty bummed out that the powerful "Time Lord Victorious" cue(s) from toward the end of The Waters of Mars didn't make it onto the CD.

Hm, what? This pissing contest is still going on?
-
Yes, that's true guys. Illayaraja is on board too.

I knew it!

Oh ffs.....wish I hadn't bothered.....only on a score forum could you post this and have it followed up with whinges about how the original post/thread title "would have been better if......"
Don't get bothered over it Greg. Humor, it is a difficult concept etc.
I can say from experience The Last Airbender really did suck. BUT the visual design and effects were actually pretty nice so a worst screenplay win would be more appropriate than overall worst picture.
I was also forced to sit through half of Twilight: Eclipse before I was able to extricate myself from the room, and I can say without any hesitation that a block of wood would have given a better and more believable performance than Kristen Stewart.
-
I agree that Star Trek doesn't have the best in the way of sound quality/clarity, but it's still a hell of a score. It must have had something to do with the larger orchestra, because I remember being struck by how good Let Me In sounded. Particularly the strings, very crisp and clear.

The Enya thing doesn't pass the smell test, and Williams is just not coming back to it.
