The obvious Mutara Nebula ripoff in the last act might be the most glaring issue of all for me.

Well dammit Nick, at least make it annual. Or even more. -

But if you're only paying a 1 or 2 disc price, what's the difference? -

The Great Escape looks like a good pickup, but I'm not ordering anything until after I get back from next week's vacation. -
Not to mention the fact that so many people were bitching about how there were "so many endings" in RotK anyway. I agree with your reasoning, and it's definitely what Jackson & co. were thinking too. I still miss the Scouring just because it's one of my favorite parts of the book, but I can live with it.

The Official La-La Land Records Thread
John Crichton replied to robthehand's topic in General Discussion
And keep in mind that the non-Varese titles on the list are ones that only LaLa wasn't able to secure the rights to. Doesn't mean that FSM, Intrada, etc. didn't. That's the way I'm reading it anyway. -
In what way? I don't necessarily disagree, just curious.

That was probably the most un-Tolkien like moment in the whole series.

That's a challenge I can get behind! -
No, Arwen just pops up at the end and they get married pretty much. There's hints throughout the book about the relationship but no real direct mentions, certainly no big arc. Almost everything in the movie was either made up by the Jackson team or taken from the appendices.

Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray Movies Announced
John Crichton replied to Trent B's topic in General Discussion
I'm with you Marc, ever since the high of the last proper movie coming out died down I've been tired of everything Star Wars and find it hard to get interested. I still love the scores to death, all 6 of them, but it's been a long time since I've watched any of the movies. There are many other franchises that I'm more interested in right now. -
What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
I'd rather they just give the music a proper official release already. I'm done with all these leaks and rips and fan edits. It gets tedious. You ain't kidding. I gave up trying to keep up with edits of the prequels years ago, I'll just stick with what I made back then until we get something real. -
Glad you enjoyed the new Tron Quint. Our thoughts on it are pretty similar. Though personally I'll take the brunette over the blonde.

Me either, it's been just the EE's from as soon as they came out. I would love to have seen the Scouring of the Shire, it was the culmination of the whole arc that Tolkien took the Hobbits on. But the decision was made to leave it out when the film was made, that's that, I'll live with it.

The more older Williams I've gotten the more I've found the early-mid 70s a very enjoyable period for Williams. It was when he was at his most experimental: Images, Black Sunday, Family Plot, The Missouri Breaks. All wonderful scores and totally unlike anything he'd write after.

No thanks. I'm willing to sign up as an enforcer though. -
If I was just voting my favorite score out of these, Spacecamp would be the clear winner. But the world premire nature of Family Plot and Black Sunday make them the clear winners of the best release question.

Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray Movies Announced

I've been reading this whole thread with detached amusement. I'll make up my mind on whether or not I'll pick this up when it actually comes out. I want to see what exactly this raiding of the SW archives will produce, and a proper color correction of the OT will definitely help too. -

I hear the similarity, but don't think much of it.
