I'm not understanding why this thread is so offensive... It's not, it's just an old running gag that comes back every so often. An appropriate response would be "Yo mamma!".

La-La Land Announces Star Trek V (Complete)
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
The second part of The Birth, from when you see the Great Barrier out the window on, has just the most amazing sound. That's struck me ever since I first saw the movie, it's great to finally have it on CD. -
I just keep buying and, given recent output, I'm fairly certain the money is being put to good use.

Potterdom Film/Score Series Thread

Indeed. Unless that, Giacchino or Arnold sneak in it's going to be another dull year. -
Every Giacchino score.

What is the last Television series you watched?

This time you and I are in total agreement. -
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's) Stone

Instead of mucking about with the files I just adjust the volume of whatever I'm playing it on. -
Jason's slipping.

It happens every once in a while with all sorts of stuff. But the beautiful part is when you give a favorite a rest and then go back to it after a while, rediscovery is glorious.

It sure looks nice on my shelf. Oh don't you start! I ever get to visit Casa Olivarez you'd better have some serious security around that thing!
-
Nuts! It's one of the biggest and best I can remember, that's for sure.
-
It was a great year for Williams releases, anyone that says otherwise is nuts.

Murray never did better with the main title music than his original one. The Series 4/Specials one and Series 5 one are decent, but the first is still the best. I really miss the strong bass dum da dum dum da dum at the start of the subsequent ones.
-
Harry Potter wasn't an official release, I don't count it.
-
This is the best of the Williams scores that were released this year, for sure.
-
It took me a couple of listens to get into the Series 5 release. It's much less thematic and struck me as much more generic than what Gold was writing for the RTD era. Getting better the more I listen to it though.

The booklet sucks and the packaging is too big, but those saucer section discs are friggin' awesome.
-
Wow, nice. And I still need to, er, "officially" get both the specials and series 5 releases too.
-
Probably a pretty good score summation, he didn't crash as an album producer until the late 90s.

What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. It's beautiful. It is. Still don't understand what's up with the super-slow tempo in the rest of the end credits, though. Nemesis has some great action cues too, and it's nice to hear some full statements of the classic main theme for the first time in a Next Gen movie. I remember seeing it in the theater for the first time, hearing the statement of it over the first shot of the Enterprise literally gave me chills. -
I paid a buck to see The Ring at film night in college. It was OK for what it was. One of the friends I went with and I had a lot of fun saying the day captions with more and more intensity as it went on. Annoyed the hell out of the people around us.

Finally got my copy yesterday, giving it a first listen now. The First Seance is just wonderful, a great indication of how well Williams would write for chorus throughout his career. I love the quote from Hitchcock in the liners, that's sig worthy.

No official release, no.
