Yes, I prefer your homegrown stuff over my homegrown stuff too. I guess we just prefer quality. As for the show in question, was made to watch the first episode, nothing grabbed me. The problem with US comedies vs their British counterparts is that in the UK it tends to be a single writer or small team working under a lead writer who can focus on things like character, plot, etc., whereas in the US it's a bunch of writers in a room throwing out random one-liners and keeping the ones that (mostly) don't suck.

John Williams' Air Force discharge
John Crichton replied to BLUMENKOHL's topic in General Discussion
Nope, right with ya. My first thought: loose women? Yes indeed. Sorry Blume, modified it a bit to avoid...confusion. As you were. -
Nope, that's Deathly Hallows 1. Which you'll see when you see it. You don't mention the one thing that always struck me as most impressive about OotP- the design. Just great, great work there. Fortunately it's stuck throughout the Yates era.

Can you post a waveform of your booklet to prove this?

I'm missing a lot of the "bottom of the barrel" (for most people) releases too from my collection, but among what I do have those that get little play time: Seven Years in Tibet, Nixon, Empire of the Sun (will be skewered for that one), War of the Worlds, and The River. Images is one of my favorite Williams scores, period, and The Missouri Breaks is always a fun if infrequent listen.

I doubt they'll be doing it much longer, as big as they're getting. -
Composer Threads The Bear McCreary Thread
John Crichton replied to Taikomochi's topic in General Discussion
Ah, neat. I had wondered if Bear was actually involved with the AVGN Christmas ep or if older music of his was just tracked in. I'll have to watch it again. This is a good opportunity for me to issue some...redactions on previous comments. I rewatched all of Galactica a couple of months ago, and I was just floored by how good the scoring is once Bear took over at the start of the series proper. I've always loved his work in season 4, but the whole series is chock full of greatness. I humbly take back anything negative I've said previously. The Opera House theme in particular, introduced in the season 1 finale, is just gorgeous. Seasons 1-3 of Galactica are on my "to get" CD list, and I can't wait. -

CDs are a necessity, people will give up anything for them. That's awesome, kudos to LaLa for the successful business and for releasing some sales figures. I'm always curious to see the numbers. -
I can see the soundtrack specialty labels lasting longer using CDs than popular music. The truth is I have several friends and family members, all younger than me, that are into "regular" music and proudly admit they haven't bought a CD in years. They get it all off Limewire. Personally I'd prefer to keep CDs around as long as we can.

Sometimes I think film companies should just stick to the trailer release and quit while they're ahead.

When you're 7 years old and dreaming of space it's pretty much the best movie ever made.

Madden Schmadden, give me Tecmo bowl, damn it. Well...sports games are the exception. I'll still play some Tecmo (Super) Bowl or RBI Baseball, but it's hard to top NCAA Football '10 (my current football game of choice). John- who just started playing through Zelda: A Link to the Past again

I got it to work a couple of summers ago using a program called VDMSound, but only with the low-res graphics setting. DOSBox might have been involved too. But that was on my old XP comp, I can't even get KotoR to run reliably on Win7.

If this is any indication we're in for another boring year in the best score category at the Oscars. I liked Bettencourt's writeup on FSM, he had a lot of praise for The King's Speech.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides

I'm liking the new Pirates trailer too. They're doing exactly what I've been saying I've wanted since the last, overbloated movie. -

I wouldn't mind Clash of the Titans at some point if it's still around, but other recent releases have priority. -
Finally got my shipping notice.
