Williams not scoring Harry Potter and GoF
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Once again I find myself saying: Perfectly said, K.M. If you really care about getting the best Williams music, Goblet of Fire is the choice. As long as the movie is made right there are so many scenes that have the potential to be classic Williams moments, moreso than the first 3 films put together. As much as PoA was a deeply personal story (reflected so by the score), GoF is epic, heroic, and eventually very dark. The last part of the score could have rivaled ESB. And maybe some people here should be less snobbish and elitist when it comes to what they see as JW's "commercial" work. This is where his best stuff is! Just ask his fans. -
Changes to Star Wars trilogy on DVD?

Sorry guys. Some dummy was gonna do it, and it turned out to be me. -
Who would you want to replace JW on "HP And Goblet Of F
John Crichton replied to hips's topic in General Discussion
They have to. It's like Star Wars, even people who have no clue who JW is recognize that music. -

Guys, calm down, IT'S A FAKE! I hope everyone realized that and was being sarcastic. -

How excited are you about Ep.3, the score?
John Crichton replied to John Crichton's topic in General Discussion
QMM, unfortunately you can't edit polls once a vote has been cast or I would take that option off. Only a few people voted for it anyway. Cerrabore, the reason that the segues are different now is becaue JW doesn't compose and record end title suites the way he used to, for any film. They're all just slopped together edits of the concert pieces or cues put together in the editing suite instead of "on the stage". There might be a new beginning or end recorded, but that's about it. When was the last time he composed a proper end credits suite? It must have been an 80s score. -

You have just destroyed any credibility that you might have had in the past. I think (I hope) that he had "sarcasm mode" on 100%. If not...well, Steef said it. -
Williams not scoring Harry Potter and GoF
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
I really don't care who does it now. I'll buy it, I'll listen to it, I'll know that no matter what Williams would have done it better. John- wondering what the people in the HP forums that we got all the scarily ignorant quotes from are saying about this. -

They spent MORE time and money on the packaging than on the content of the CD. The packaging is excellent, except for the book full of stills from the film and nothing else. And the fact it lies on the back. But the color is really cool, and I wish more 2 CD sets used that kind of package. -

I'd call it lazy. Just pull out the iso score and slop it on a CD. Minimum costs, done in a day, and many angry JW fans left in it's wake. John- who actually enjoys editing music, and DVD extracts are his latest obsession. But who still wants a proper complete TPM release. -

It's certainly better than just the OST. And once you've made an "Ultimate Edit" it's actually quite a good listen. John Takis did a great job putting together a Battle of Naboo that sounds as close as we can get to what it originally was. The rest can be done just by editing out loops and putting some parts of the OST into the UE. And replacing the whole podrace sequence with what's on the OST. -
Strange, but true. How times change.

Guess I'll post all of mine here, including the few above: I like the Star Wars prequels. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes in the OT DVDs. I like the scores to AOTC and The Patriot. AOTC has more going on thematically than most people realize. I don't like the complete ET score that much. It drags too much in the middle. Sorcerer's Stone is still my favorite HP score, I haven't gotten into PoA as much as most people. Jaws is overrated. The TPM UE is a bad release, but at least it's the complete score. It's a good starting point for an "Ultimate Edit", which I did. All you need is the OST, the UE, the John Takis Battle of Naboo edits, an editing program, and a willingness to do it. Jurassic Park, other than "Journey to the Island", is overrated. Hayden Christenson was an excellent choice for Anakin. He portrays the dark side of Anakin well, and he's going to surprise a lot of people in Ep. 3. Whew, I think that's it! -

Yeah, unfortunately it's not just insane specualtion anymore. -
Yes, the CD track "Gilderoy Lockhart" is only half in the film, the other half is for what ended up a deleted scene. The one where he's giving the quiz about himself.

Yikes! I skimmed through it, and I'm not embarassed to say I understood almost nothing in there. But, there was one thing that caught my eye that I could understand. Look at page 72. It appears that there was an alternate finale recorded for CoS!

Williams not scoring Harry Potter and GoF
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Like I said in the GoF thread, if this is true it makes me both  and . And you're right K.M., Ricard wouldn't post it if he wasn't sure. I think more people read this website than even we realize, and he knows the importance of accuracy. John- who might assist K.M. in his sig pic if this is true. But only after Ep. 3 is done. -
Of course it's easy to perform. All you have to do is smash a keyboard with a dead cat for 2 hrs and you have a MV score for a Bruckheimer film.
-
And in the unlikely event that Harrison Ford drops dead, how about Harrison Ford?
-
Wasn't there an erroneus report some time before PoA that Williams wasn't going to do it? So Joe and MaestroJW are right, they'res still plenty of time. But if he does choose Memoirs over Gof, that thought makes be both  and .

No, this thread is supposed to be a chance for us all to showcase potenitally unpopular opinions about Williams and his related movies. The original subject was "YOUR most "politically incorrect" Williams statements", but the end of statements kept getting cut off, so I dumped the "your". Sorry about the confusion. Your welcome. I think this can be a great thread, and needed to be seperate from the Superman discussion. And sorry for missing your quote, I put it up top. -

Hope no one minds, I know we've got a few posts about this in the Superman thread, but I thought this deserved a thread of it's own. Credit and thanks to MSM for coming up with the idea in the first place! Here's what we have so far: Keep 'em coming, this is fun!
