  1. No way in a million years I could ever back that up. Hook is a Williams masterpiece. PotC is the same mediocre theme for the dead pirates over, and over...and...over... . But several of us have fessed up unpoular views, including me, so kudos for joining the fun. And since I'm here, I'll add another: I don't like the complete ET score that much. The beginning and end are great, but it really drags in the middle. John- who's thinking of making a seperate thread of all this.
  2. You seem to be commenting more on the music than the structure of the CD. There are more action cues on the TPM OST because TPM has more action cues. With the love story and Obi-Wan mystery solving plotlines, and the disaster of the Battle of Geonosis, there are few action cues in AOTC. If you follow the 2 C's rule (Complete and Cronological) that most of us want our CDs to follow, AOTC kills TPM. AOTC is generally in film order and has most of the important cues from the film. TPM is hacked to pieces with many tracks made up of cues from opposite ends of the film. Some tracks are even 3 or 4 cues from all over the place! And many great moments are left off the CD in favor of "Arrival at Coruscant" appearing twice and two presentations of both Duel of the Fates and Anakin's Theme.
  3. I've known that from the start and acknowledge it. But it's not going to change my opinions any.
  4. If that's me you're referring to, don't apologize on my account. It's my own fault if I wander in here and go all cross-eyed skimming the posts of incomprehensibility. I just felt like commenting earlier, that's all.
  5. Well, we're now starting to get some trickles of info from official sources. It won't be long now when we can stop speculating and start reacting. I just hope everyone can remain civil in the aftermath of the official announcement. I'm as sick of the Lucas bashing as anyone, and I know it will reach a fever pitch at that time. But I won't get reud and uppity about it. Here's hoping. John- fearing this thread will And in an uglier way than it did with all the sexual innuendo earlier.
  6. Everything's amazing here, of course! Seriously though, I lived for 10 years in New Hampshire, and after getting back down here all food just tastes better down here. Maybe it's just me 'cause I lived here so long before going up north, but that's what I've experienced.
  7. Should he? Of course! It's fantasy, and therefore right up his alley. But JW's got enough on his plate right now with Ep. 3, HP, and whatever Spielberg ends up doing, so I'm glad he's not. I've never heard of the "other" Williams that is doing the score, but based on the comments here it could be something to look forward to. As an example from the last big fantasy movies, I thought that Shore's LoTR scores were good but not spectacular. (Specifically: Fellowship was excellent, the best of the series. Two Towers was mediocre at best. RoTK was very good, but not as good as FoTR.) I remember reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in 2nd or 3rd grade, but I haven't since. I didn't remeber that it was a whole series. Maybe I'll read it before the movie comes out, and check out some others in the series. John- rambling.
  8. Wow, I've never seen a thread where I understood so little of what's being said. Is this English? Craziness! John- ripping off the catchphrase of Coupling's new character for series 4.
  9. If you like drinking something that tastes like carbonated cough syrup. Many of my family enjoy Diet Dr. Pepper, quite a popular drink here in the State of Texas. John- drinking fat free milk (AKA watered down milk to many people)
  10. I had a similar experience with trying Diet Coke with Lemon. I could've gone home and poured regular Diet Coke and tea into the same glass and gotten the exact same effect. :? And I prefer Diet to regular Coke 'cause the regular is just too sugary and syrupy for my tastes. John- realizing the crazy places threads go when they reach 44 pages.
  11. Because Texas is one of the most populous states in the union and we deserve to finally get something like this. Not all film music/classical fans live on the coasts, you know.
  12. I would've loved to have seen it on the IMAX, but the Austin one didn't show it. Oh well. I hope Episode 3 will have an IMAX release. And GoF. John- drinking regular Diet Coke and watching Clemens get shelled in the All-Star Game
  13. Joe, I think we all realized that the specific titles are fake. But we don't know if you based the titles on real spoilers that many of us don't want to know.
  14. This reminds me of a conversation I had a while ago.... My friend Zack, "Why is Anakin so damn whiny in Episode 2?" My reply,"Luke had to get it from somewhere."
  15. I may be a proud Star Wars "fanboy" in that I am a huge fan of all the movies, but even I'm not stupid enough to believe that the review could possibly be real. It's almost a year before the movie comes out for crying out loud! Instead of insulting all Star Wars fans, why don't we call those people who thought it was real what they are: stupid censored people! John- who bailed out of that thread after seeing a couple of the "track titles" and has stayed out for fear of spoilers.
  16. So am I. I voted for option two instead of one only because my excitement right now is the same as before TPM, so Ep. 3 isn't the "most anticipated ever" for me, yet. That might change as it gets closer. After I hear Ep. 3 for the first time I might be quoting Lt. George from Blackadder 4: "I hope I snuff it right now so I preserve this moment forever!" John- finding the semantics in his own poll.
  17. Got it in one. Well, the Lucas sucks option and the I couldn't care less option are about the same, but I felt that our fellow MBers who live and breathe to hate Lucas needed their own option. All in good fun, of course.
  18. My good friends at the JWFan Message Board. A couple of my friends like some of Williams' work, but don't have much patience for detailed discussions of it.
  19. Putting Ian McDiarmid into ESB is one of the changes I've been wanting too. The pic looks good. It works for continutiy, and I'm just such a freakin HUGE fan of his work in Star Wars that the more of him the better. I'm hoping he gets a scene in ANH, the dissolution of the Senate or something. John- looking forward to seeing Ian McDiarmid own Episode 3.
  20. "I like the scores to The Patriot and Attack of the Clones." I'll second that. John- who enjoys being politically incorrect
  21. Fullscreen AND WIDESCREEN. So what exactly is the difference to what I said? Maybe thinking a little more before hitting "submit" would do some good.
  22. Fullscreen is evil. One of the best things about DVDs is not just the picture and sound quality, or the ability for extras, but the fact that we can now get everything in widescreen, the way is was meant to be seen.
  23. Spielberg's change of direction is not neccesarily a good or bad thing. It's up to the individual on how they feel about it. Personally, I don't enjoy his work as much as I used to, but that's just me. And based on what I've seen I think it's factually correct to say that the general public doesn't respond to him the way they used to. Whether that matters is, again, up to you. And I agree Steef, his legacy has already been cemented thanks to his work from the late 70s to the early or mid 90s. He will always be a legend thanks to that, no matter what he does now. And the idea of a Spielberg War of the Worlds exites me in a way I haven't gotten excited about a Spielberg film in a looooooong time. I just hope it happens, I'm trying not to get my hopes up the way his projects can come and go.
