Actually, if they felt they could live without the Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs story in PoA, they definately can in GoF. It doesn't become important again until Order of the Phoenix.

Which is the best version of the Star Wars Main Theme?
John Crichton replied to John McClane's topic in General Discussion
I've never heard any recordings of the main title other than those in the film. Here's how I would rank them, main title only, not the music that comes right after: Prequel (wish they had kept up with tradition and recorded it again for AOTC though) ANH ROJ ESB -
Bottom of the Barrel:Your 10 least listened to JW scores
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Blasphemy! The emoticon is to show that I'm not trying to be rued, but I really don't understand how these two could be on anyone's bottom 10 list. I know I don't speak for everyone, but they are both solidly in my top 10. -
may I borrow that? Why not? I did.

Should Williams end his collaboration with Spielberg?
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Overall I say no. But he should be willing to reconsider when a Cos/CMIYC like conflict ever arises again. He did both the CoS filmmakers and his fans a great disservice by giving priority to a film that really did not need him over an HP film, even if it was Spielberg. But before the flaming begins, let me say (as I have before) that I do understand his decision. I just don't agree with it. -
Signs of the Apocalypse. As a friend of mine loved to say, "You can't spell crap without rap."

OK, I have a question. I've never heard anything by Giacchino. I've never played a game he's scored, and I've never watched Alias. But, since this is all about video games... I'm a huge fan of Nobou Uematsu, a Japanese composer that's most famous for his scores for the Final Fantasy series. FFVI is my favorite game score, with FFVII right behind. Any other fans here? And as for TV, I've always been impressesd with the work of Guy Gross on Farscape and Cristophe Beck on Buffy.

Here's a quick, spoiler free description of all the new characters for those who haven't read the book. Mad-Eye Moody: This year's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Famous Auror (Dark Wizard catcher). Gets his name for his magical eye. Madame Maxine: Headmistress of Beubxbatons School. She is Hagrid's size. Barty Crouch: Head of Dept. of Inernational Magical Cooperation. Igor Karkaroff: Headmaster of Durmstrang School. Amos Diggory: Cedric's father. Very minor role, surprised he's in the film at all. Barty Crouch Jr.: Barty Crouch's son. Highlight if you want to know some more, they're minor spoilers: He is a convicted Death Eater (Voldemort supporter) and sentenced to life in Azkaban. Cedric Diggory: Hogwarts student. Seeker and Captain of the Hufflepuff Quiddich team. Competes in the Triwizard Tournament. Viktor Krum: Seeker of the Bulgarian National Quiddich team that plays in the World Cup. Also a student at Durmstrang, and competes in the Triwizard Tournament. Fleur Delacour: Student at Beauxbatons. Competes in the Triwizard Tournament. Cho Chang: Hogwarts student. Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quiddich team. Minor spoiler: Harry has a major crush on her. Ludo Bagman (not confirmed in film): Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. Famous former beater for the professional Winbourne Wasps. Rita Skeeter (not confirmed in film): Writer for the Daily Prophet newspaper. Loves getting people into trouble, and doesn't let the facts get in the way of a damning story.

She is the most glaring omission on the returning list, as is the actor playing Ludo Bagman on the new list. Maybe Bagman has been cut from the film to save time? He's in the book a bit, but you can lose him and not mess up the main plot. He was more on the side. EDIT- I can't beleive I forgot about Rita Skeeter! She's much more important than Bagman, she really should be in the film. Hope she is.

The Terminal and Harry Potter have come...and gone...
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. The normal schedule from Eps. 1 and 2 is he'll sit down with Lucas in early fall to spot the film, start writing in November, then go to London to record in Jan/Feb. John- still holding out the very pointless hope that an extra day will be scheduled with the LSO to fix the Ep. 2 mess. -

I'd prefer that JW spend the rest of the year working on Ep. 3. -
Unknown Piece (very Williams-esque!)
John Crichton replied to TownerFan's topic in General Discussion
I've never seen that Simpsons episode, but I can buy that piece being an ET parody, especially the second half of it. -
The Terminal and Harry Potter have come...and gone...
John Crichton replied to King Mark's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I think he should have made CoS a priority over CMIYC, not the other way around, even if it was Speilberg. But I understand the reasons behind his decision. I was gonna say that the HP films powers-that-be would face an all out fan revolt if they tried to replace JW. Then I remembered some of the comments that have been made on the HP fan sites, and now I'm not so sure. -
Oh God, I can't resist... "You may call me MURRAY. I am a powerful demonic force! I am the harbinger of your doom! And the forces of darkness shall applaud me as I stride through the gates of Hell, carrying your head on a pike!" "Stride?" "All right then, roll! ROLL through the gates of Hell! Must you take the fun out of everything?" I think I'm gonna have every line Murray's ever had up here before too much longer. LOL

"Bite My Shiny Metal.." Sirius instead of Bender?
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
What about Frank Oz? Or was that pre-Muppets/Sesame Street as well? Good point, I didn't think of him. But that was voice/puppetering too, not just voice. -
Anybody heard Starship Troopers 2?
John Crichton replied to Goldsmithfan's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I loved the tounge-in-cheek political satire. All the "Would You Like to Know More?" videos, how the military intel guys had very obvious Nazi-based uniforms, etc. A friend of mine said that he read the book in school and it was even better in that regard. He compared it favorably to Orwell's 1984. So I might have to check it out sometime. And I finally got the DVD a few months ago. -
"Bite My Shiny Metal.." Sirius instead of Bender?
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
Well, you don't need to picture him as Grievous. Picky $^%&$^. You know what I meant! -
You're about as fearsome as a doorstop. Marian - playing Curse. Is it a really EVIL looking doorstop?

Anybody heard Starship Troopers 2?
John Crichton replied to Goldsmithfan's topic in General Discussion
Has anyone even seen Starship Troopers 2? I liked the first movie, but this one looked horrible in the trailers I saw. -
No, there is another. I just don't get invovled in these fights anymore cause it's just the same stuff over, and over, and over, and no one's mind is changed. I'm long past sick of it. Most of the people here hate it, fine. I like AOTC a lot, there are many things in there as a fan of the overall Star Wars story, Eps. 1-6, that I love. And I will say that there is no such thing as worse than ST V.

"Bite My Shiny Metal.." Sirius instead of Bender?
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
OK, that's what I wasn't sure of. I wasn't around to know. So now I can say that Lucas has NEVER hired a big name to do a voice only part in a SW film. -
"Bite My Shiny Metal.." Sirius instead of Bender?
John Crichton replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
I can't picture Gary Oldman as Greivous. I'm sure I'd be proved wrong if it happens, but who knows if it will. Rumors are rumors. Lucas has never hired a big name to do a voice only part in a SW film, other than James Earl Jones, and I don't know if he was that well known back then. John- who likes Bender, but who's favorite Futurama character is Dr. Zoidberg.
