  1. Overall I say no. But he should be willing to reconsider when a Cos/CMIYC like conflict ever arises again. He did both the CoS filmmakers and his fans a great disservice by giving priority to a film that really did not need him over an HP film, even if it was Spielberg. But before the flaming begins, let me say (as I have before) that I do understand his decision. I just don't agree with it.

  2. OK, I have a question. I've never heard anything by Giacchino. I've never played a game he's scored, and I've never watched Alias. But, since this is all about video games...

I'm a huge fan of Nobou Uematsu, a Japanese composer that's most famous for his scores for the Final Fantasy series. FFVI is my favorite game score, with FFVII right behind. Any other fans here?

And as for TV, I've always been impressesd with the work of Guy Gross on Farscape and Cristophe Beck on Buffy.

  3. Here's a quick, spoiler free description of all the new characters for those who haven't read the book.

Mad-Eye Moody: This year's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Famous Auror (Dark Wizard catcher). Gets his name for his magical eye.

Madame Maxine: Headmistress of Beubxbatons School. She is Hagrid's size.

Barty Crouch: Head of Dept. of Inernational Magical Cooperation.

Igor Karkaroff: Headmaster of Durmstrang School.

Amos Diggory: Cedric's father. Very minor role, surprised he's in the film at all.

Barty Crouch Jr.: Barty Crouch's son. Highlight if you want to know some more, they're minor spoilers: He is a convicted Death Eater (Voldemort supporter) and sentenced to life in Azkaban.

Cedric Diggory: Hogwarts student. Seeker and Captain of the Hufflepuff Quiddich team. Competes in the Triwizard Tournament.

Viktor Krum: Seeker of the Bulgarian National Quiddich team that plays in the World Cup. Also a student at Durmstrang, and competes in the Triwizard Tournament.

Fleur Delacour: Student at Beauxbatons. Competes in the Triwizard Tournament.

Cho Chang: Hogwarts student. Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quiddich team. Minor spoiler: Harry has a major crush on her.

Ludo Bagman (not confirmed in film): Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports. Famous former beater for the professional Winbourne Wasps.

Rita Skeeter (not confirmed in film): Writer for the Daily Prophet newspaper. Loves getting people into trouble, and doesn't let the facts get in the way of a damning story.

  4. What about Julie Walters - Molly Weasley? :P

She is the most glaring omission on the returning list, as is the actor playing Ludo Bagman on the new list. Maybe Bagman has been cut from the film to save time? He's in the book a bit, but you can lose him and not mess up the main plot. He was more on the side.

EDIT- I can't beleive I forgot about Rita Skeeter! She's much more important than Bagman, she really should be in the film. Hope she is.

  5. Putting this thread back on topic (for a little while anyway :P ) here's MANY Gof casting confirmations from a Warner press release. Some of these we knew about, some we didn't.

  6. This sounds like Alf Clausen's parody of E.T., from that Simpsons episode, A Star is Burns,  where Mr. Burn makes his own biopic for the Springfield Movie Festival.

Either that or some hack poorly ripping E.T. off.

-Ross, remembering the Imperial March in that episode.

I've never seen that Simpsons episode, but I can buy that piece being an ET parody, especially the second half of it.

  7. Even if it was the same situation, I think John would make GoF a higher priority. Well, he should anyway.

Yeah, I think he should have made CoS a priority over CMIYC, not the other way around, even if it was Speilberg. But I understand the reasons behind his decision.

It's not even confirmed he's going to score GoF.

I was gonna say that the HP films powers-that-be would face an all out fan revolt if they tried to replace JW. Then I remembered some of the comments that have been made on the HP fan sites, and now I'm not so sure.

  8. Can I call you Bob?

Oh God, I can't resist...

"You may call me MURRAY. I am a powerful demonic force! I am the harbinger of your doom! And the forces of darkness shall applaud me as I stride through the gates of Hell, carrying your head on a pike!"

    "Stride?"

"All right then, roll! ROLL through the gates of Hell! Must you take the fun out of everything?"

I think I'm gonna have every line Murray's ever had up here before too much longer. LOL

  9. I liked the first one too, but that's why I strongly dislike the idea of making a spin-off series and a sequel.... it's not a fun action movie, it's a biting satire.

Marian - who still needs the DVD.

Yeah, I loved the tounge-in-cheek political satire. All the "Would You Like to Know More?" videos, how the military intel guys had very obvious Nazi-based uniforms, etc. A friend of mine said that he read the book in school and it was even better in that regard. He compared it favorably to Orwell's 1984. So I might have to check it out sometime.

And I finally got the DVD a few months ago.

  10. SeekUYoda, apparently the only person around here who likes AOTC.

    No, there is another. ;)

I just don't get invovled in these fights anymore cause it's just the same stuff over, and over, and over, and no one's mind is changed. I'm long past sick of it. Most of the people here hate it, fine. I like AOTC a lot, there are many things in there as a fan of the overall Star Wars story, Eps. 1-6, that I love.

And I will say that there is no such thing as worse than ST V.

  11. I can't picture Gary Oldman as Greivous. I'm sure I'd be proved wrong if it happens, but who knows if it will. Rumors are rumors. Lucas has never hired a big name to do a voice only part in a SW film, other than James Earl Jones, and I don't know if he was that well known back then.

John- who likes Bender, but who's favorite Futurama character is Dr. Zoidberg.
