  1. My first instinct is Goldsmith. But after thinking about it my second favorite is Nobuo Uematsu. And never, ever Horner. Ever.
  2. No. I'm in favor of some of the proposed changes to the OT, but not all of them. Given the choice I would buy the new versions no matter what. BUT, I agree wholeheartedly with the board's resident Lucas-haters that the original movies should be released. People should have the choice what edition they want to buy without having to do anything other than look at the DVD covers. Having said that, I'm considering joining Hyperspace anyway to see the EP. 3 stuff before the film comes out. The fact that the scoring sessions are going to be on the webcam may push me over the edge. I know there won't be any sound (DAMN! ), but it might still be fun to watch some of it.
  3. If you read my posts in other SW threads, you would see that I am still a huge fan. I usually follow Rouge's advice: life is too short for these arguments. I've said before that I've long ago grown sick of the endless debates. I love all the movies, others hate them all, or hate some and like some. Fine by me. John- staying away from the Farenheit 9/11 thread. I don't think I could resist the urge to go on the kind of political rant that gets the writer and the inevitable responders banned if I read any more in there.
  4. The very fact that Voldemort is in the movie could be a spoiler to people who haven't read the book.
  5. I don't remember. I know there was an insane Rowan Atkinson rumor a while back. But reading between the lines at Mugglenet, they seem pretty sure that what I posted above is gonna happen, so that's why I ran with it. John- who is about the only person in the US who knows Rowan Atkinson for the beyond superb Blackadder rather than the mediocre Mr. Bean.
  6. A new casting rumor is making the rounds. It seems to be picking up steam, but nothing is official yet. The charater could be considered a decent sized spoiler for those that haven't read the books, so it's in spoiler protection invisotext. Highlight below: Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort
  7. You know, I didn't ever study well unless it was in complete silence either. If I had Williams on, and I wasn't working on a Williams-related project, it would just distract me and I'd wind up listening and not working. So my study music had to be pop-ish - something I could tune out. If I had Williams on, or anything classical, I'd be riveted by it! I never could study listening to Williams. I'd be spending too much time listening to the music. I've always studied better in silence.
  8. I'm not at all forgiving of his tactics. He has no interest in sparking debate, only in manipulating emotion and public opinion to his point of view with a mix of what many people agree are everything from deliberate manipulations to outright lies.
  9. I have many things I want to say about Michael Moore and his new "film", but out of respect of the rules I'll limit myself to emoticons.
  10. The Hulk makes Spiderman look like a good movie. And I won't comment on the merits of either score, as they have none. John- still on the cusp of ducking.
  11. Right here man, I first started hearing him when I played FFVIII and immediately loved him, I've got numerous FF soundtracks and love all his work. I loved his music from what I heard in the games, but I listened to a few of the piano CDs, and I think most of it just doesn't work. I've never heard the piano compositions. I have the complete scores to FF VI (3 discs) and FF VII (4 discs). Sure, the sound is only a small step above MIDI quiality, but it is superb music. I might buy a couple of the CDs with orchestras performing the music someday, just to hear it played by a full orchestra.
  12. If Williams had scored Spiderman 2, I might actually give a damn about that movie. Spiderman was massively overrated. John- preparing to duck.
  13. Ultimately, yes. But not till the end of the movie.
  14. Yeah, that deifinatley qulifies as disturbing, not funny.
  15. This will be a day long remembered. Two of the funniest pictures ever to grace JWFan.
  16. Over the years, what JW album have you listened to the most? What do you listen to the most nowadays? What bit of Williams greatness has found its way into your CD player, iPod, record player, etc, more than any other? For me, the most listened to will always be the Star Wars Original Trilogy Special Editions. They were my first, and for a long time only JW CDs. As my collection has grown the last few years I try to listen to everything evenly, but I think all 5 SW scores are still ahead.
  17. I thought so too. Maybe, I don't remember hearing it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. But on the above I was going off the official press release, and she's not in there. I know, but Cuaron has said that the filmmakers of GoF are incorporating some of PoA's omissions into the movie. But like Marian said, it was super intelligent of them to leave that stuff out of PoA, since it's not like they have enough to deal with in GoF. Ray Barnsbury Or OOTP. There's too much to put in the film to begin with without having to go back and explain things that should have been in previous movies.
  18. Grevious is supposed to be THE bad guy in Ep. 3, much like Darth Maul in TPM. I think I've heard officially that he's the general of the Separatist (Count Dooku's) forces. He's supposed to have a major role in the wiping out of the Jedi.
  19. Actually, if they felt they could live without the Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs story in PoA, they definately can in GoF. It doesn't become important again until Order of the Phoenix.
  20. I've never heard any recordings of the main title other than those in the film. Here's how I would rank them, main title only, not the music that comes right after: Prequel (wish they had kept up with tradition and recorded it again for AOTC though) ANH ROJ ESB
  21. Blasphemy! The emoticon is to show that I'm not trying to be rued, but I really don't understand how these two could be on anyone's bottom 10 list. I know I don't speak for everyone, but they are both solidly in my top 10.
