  1. We have an annual chat during the Oscars. Other than that it's not regularly used. We tried to revive the old Friday night chat tradition a while back but it died off again from simple lack of interest. It's tough when everyone is scattered over so many time zones. Of course everyone is free to use the chatroom anytime they want. It's unmoderated and anything goes, just as long as any fights or off-topic discussions don't leak over onto the main forum.
  2. That too. It's a very good score that gets a bum rap from most people for three reasons: it's a departure from the traditional Star Wars sound (which you'd think people would be praising Williams for), it's chopped to hell in the movie, and simply because people hate the movie.
  3. Saw this while randomly poking around Google image, had to share it : I've finished ME2, by the way.
  4. 2001 Hmmm. Interesting. I've never sat down and watched the whole thing before, but saw it cheap on Blu and grabbed it. I certainly don't hate it, and despite the fact that it does tend to plod a bit I was rarely bored. It really sucked me in, in fact. I think it's found a new fan. And on a side note, it looks STUNNING on Blu. Particularly the spaceship interiors. Just a gorgeous restoration and transfer. At least to my eyes, could just be me enjoying my awesome new TV. Since I enjoyed this, is 2010 worth it?
  5. Of course. New Who is pretty much the one thing I get on the day of release, price be damned.
  6. It's a great opening but if you want to hear Williams at his dramatic best go for the aforementioned Shuttle Tydirium Approches Endor. Chillingly great.
  7. Throw in the unreleased section and that's probably my favorite action cue in the score.
  8. Picked up the following the last few days, all for $10 each: The Last Starfighter Ghostbusters (DVD upgrade) 2001
  9. No love for the sub cue or Ark Trek? Those are two of my favorites.
  10. Welcome. The alternate universe Brigade Leader in Inferno is also one of the greatest Who villains of all time. Also, in the timing department, I just so happened to have just gotten Battlefield on DVD. Say what you will about the bulk of the story (and I do like it), you will not find a better love letter to the Brig. "Can this world do no better than you as it's champion?" "Probably. I just do the best I can!" BOOM!
  11. Godspeed, Brigadier. The great Nicholas Courtney has passed on.
  12. 1. John Williams 2. Jerry Goldsmith 3. Michael Giacchino 4. Nobuo Uematsu (I know, VG, not film. Tough.) 5. A big jumble, this is where it becomes more about individual scores than composers for me
  13. ID4 is one of the absolute best of the '90s, at that price it'd be almost criminal not to get it.
  14. Yes. I haven't played the just released second ep yet (want to finish up Mass Effect 2 first), but it's the usual solid Telltale adventure game and it nails the tone and style of the films perfectly.
  15. This past fall/winter season of Survivor had the most consistently contentious tribal councils in the show's history. It was like they were poking everyone with cattle prods on the way in. I haven't watched the new one yet, but I will and looking forward to it (I've made it a habit of watching the new eps on CBS.com the weekend or so after they air). I'm a big fan of Russell. Despite the fact he makes some stupid moves sometimes I would have voted him to win both his previous games.
  16. Great news! David had some fun teasing this on his Facebook yesterday. I hope it means that he'll actually be writing a new piece rather than just putting the music together.
  17. I still want to hear that, just out of pure curiosity. I'm sure I'd regret it after.
  18. Battlestar Galactica: Seasons 2 & 3 Very, very nice. Season 2 is a huge leap forward from season 1 and while season 3 feels a bit like treading water there are some very nice stand alone pieces. Not as much thematic development as I expected, most of that was saved for the season 4 set.
  19. Honestly they can release all the Zimmer they want, I just won't be buying it. If that's what raises the funds for the releases that are worth making...er, the ones that I WILL buy, then I can live with that.
