  1. Me personally, I like Across the Stars, but I'd find more to appreciate about it if it weren't a carbon copy of that one theme from Hook. But I still like it. And I like the whole AotC score. The way I see it, most all of us could never, ever compose something like John did for AotC. Whether we like a score or not, it doesn't mean that it wasn't hard work to compose. I commend John for creating the perfectly, acceptably good score that is AotC.
  2. Ahem. Always genius: the highly unintelligent tubes that connect our ears to our underdeveloped brains obviously are nary smart enough to hear the genius that goes into everything John Horatio Umberto Williams does. Get your facts right. And those are the two middle names that I believe are most fitting to Mr. Williams.
  3. That... is... awesome. Really. Wow... And I think there's at least one motif in there... Maybe a theme... Wow... I wish all action music were that good.
  4. And if you took the right shots out of PoA, you'd say the same thing, I mean, come on! We've seen like 4 pictures directly out of the movie... Rita Skeeter looks a little too normal, but still freaky. And Ron's dress robes look funkylicious! The dragon looks overweight and in need of some testosterone injections, which I am sure can be secured magically by him. But the first trailer probably won't be too far off at all. And I am greatly looking forward to that... James- who is very much looking forward to the movie and the score.
  5. I am very excited.... Very anticipatingful. 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

  7. I just watched the trailer... And I think, simplistic though the theme (BotH) is, it'll be cool to listen to on the soundtrack. And it will go along well with Duel of the Fates, if it does.
  8. That's right! James- who firmly believes that a sleek and sexy Mac can solve all of your computer woes.

  13. It SEEMS to fit the usual style of Star Wars... But I have no idea.
  14. It sounds a little... idk... too empty to be a true John Williams thing... So I will believe the people who know more about it.... and stuff..

  17. I like this cover... It looks old... And you can't see Darth Vader.
  18. "the film is where the entire experience lies"... Unless the film is crap and provides no experience whatsoever, and the score carries the movie. Then the experience lies in the score.... I believe.
  19. Err... Unless the score is 100 times better than the film... Then the only thing that keeps the movie going is the score.
  20. http://www.onetakewatson.com/Pictures/disp...9047&fullsize=1 That's a large promotional poster for GoF... Score composed by Patrick Doyle... But the funkylicious thing is, is that it gives no reference to a rock group... Or anything like that... Cause I've seen some movie posters that say Score by: Someone and then some other music credit that said something about the rock group that did some songs for the movie.... ANYWAY... ... Yeah.

  23. In the final run up to next weekend's Oscar awards, there are several bits of news about the score for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which was nominated for an Academy Award. The score by John Williams was included in an article earlier this week from Variety that had a quote from the composer about his music for the Azkaban film. "It differed from the first two films in that this was a darker, more mature subject. But like the others, it required something like two hours plus of very active and difficult orchestral scoring, balletic action, the light and dark side of magic, the atmosphere of the world and so on. The orchestral palette was very broad." On a related note, the soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will be featured on NPR on Weekend Edition Sunday, as part of their annual Oscar special, in a show called Listening to the Movies: Fantasy and Fright. The air times for this program vary, but this special will be posted shortly after broadcast on the website. The Academy Awards will be presented on February 27th, airing here in the US on ABC at 8pm(EST). That's from Leaky Cauldron.
  24. David Heyman says he first approached Cocker, who had written four songs for the film. 'Jarvis is a great lyricist who imbuded the songs with wit and completely got the tone we were after.' he said. In the film you'll see the Weird Sisters play regular instruments that are a little bit strange, like bagpipes with really long pipes and guitars with three necks. And because there's no electricity at Hogwarts, the sound system has to be powered by steam, so you see these bursts of steam coming out of the speakers." This makes it sound more interesting.. as long as the songs are good... as long as its quirky rock that fits in with Harry Potter... And mainly, as long as the songs JUST appear during the Yule Ball scene, it'll be better... Cause that way the rest will be Patrick Doyle... As long as the movie doesnt have rock songs scatterered throughout, I can do with them on the soundtrack.
